SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Quality Technician will support the Quality Control department to complete the daily work required of the department. These primary responsibilities include support for the internal inspection process, incoming inspection process, gage calibration management, scrap reporting and coordination, and control of material transactions within Syteline. The incumbent will understand and follow ISO requirements, problem solving methods, and assist with plant quality audits.
REPORTS TO (Title) : Supervisor of the Quality Control department
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Critical-to-Quality inspections: Member of the CTQ Team. Responsible for loading and maintaining assigned CTQs into the database.
Owner of the gage calibration system. Responsible to ensure calibrations are up to date by assigning and monitoring internal calibrations, while also managing external calibrations when required. Responsible for regular reporting of upcoming gage calibration due dates and past due calibrations.
Responsible to aid in floor support calls to determine product defects and root cause analysis.
Complete material transactions in Syteline to support the Quality function. These will include transfers in/out of non-nettable quality locations, and scrap transactions.
Assist with daily scrap reviews, red tag log and disposition. Coordinate vendor scrap items to be returned for credit.
Internal audit support.
Inspection Control Plan support.
Produce and update Quality Inspection Work Instructions.
Responsible to follow documented processes and procedures which make up the Akron Brass Quality Management System.
Represent the Quality department in cross-functional teams and meetings as directed. These may include Engineering and Manufacturing Process Change Boards, new product development tollgates, CTQ Team, and internal Corrective Actions (iCAR) Team.
Create and maintain procedures, work instructions and forms needed to be compliant to ISO9001
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES:
Experience with Inspection: Inspection Process, gages, tools, and equipment
Ability to read and interpret technical product drawings, including GD&T.
Ability to follow written procedures and monitor others for adherence to procedures
Strong computer skills: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, & Word.
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
Open-minded self-starter with the ability to adapt and problem solve, as well manage multiple tasks concurrently.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Five years’ experience in manufacturing.
Experience in an Inspection role or department.
Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes and principles (ISO) industry standards.
Requires an understanding of quality techniques such as SPC, CMM, GD&T etc.
Must be skilled in use of personal computers.
Must be skilled to work with team(s) and collaborate with other functions and shop floor employees.
