Job Purpose:
Ensure quality standards and processes are administered according to Akron Brass Policy and Procedures. Troubleshoot Quality problems and facilitate resolution. This includes troubleshooting new and existing products in order to improve performance and meet customer requirements. Facilitate and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities:
Include, but are not limited to the following:
Support ISO Process
Quality problem resolution for internal and external customers
Implement Quality Systems and Procedures
Quality Audits
Gauge Calibration
Work with customer service, operations and product engineering to improve quality system processes
Improve existing manufacturing and product development processes to reduce waste (non-value added activities) and improve quality
Working with all facets of operations to facilitate problem resolution
Ability to analyze situations, determine root cause and develop appropriate long-term solutions
Overcome resistance to change
Identification of audit failures and facilitation of resolution
Domestic and international travel for supplier quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
4-Year Engineering Degree
2 to 3 years of experience in a CNC machine shop environment
Proven Problem Solver
Analytical
Team facilitation, proven communication skills, ability to interact with all levels of associates.
GD&T
Metrology
Preferred experience in ASQ Certification, Pro-E (Creo), and Calypso
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Although the Quality Engineer does not have any direct reports, this position does provide guidance to a number of hourly and salary employees. If this guidance is not accurate, timely and well thought out, it could have an adverse effect on product quality, and productivity.

Responsible for understanding health and safety rules and procedures relevant to your job
Responsible for reporting workplace hazards and all injuries, no matter how minor to your supervisor immediately
Responsible for participating in health and safety training
All employees have the authority to stop a process or piece of equipment, if it is considered unsafe
Employees are responsible for addressing any unsafe behaviors of other Akron Brass employees, contractors, and visitors
Responsible for participating in incident investigation, and development of corrective and preventive actions
