Role Summary:

Under direction of the Quality Department Manager, the Quality Compliance Specialist (QCS) will serve worldwide Municipal Firefighting, Military, and Industrial firefighting customers within the Life Safety market by ensuring our products and systems achieve and maintain compliance with applicable industry and national standards. The QCS will assist with ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and supporting the execution of the Quality Management System. These processes include, but are not limited to coordinating 3rd party certifications, documentation, and records management, and assisting with the training of internal employees on product regulatory requirements.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain procedures and practices to sustain and improve the Quality Management System in line with applicable national and international standards and regulations. These include ISO, FM, MED, Coast Guard, Navy, UL, ATEX, and additional standards as applicable.

  • Primary contact person for 3rd party agencies and certifying bodies.

  • Coordinate the issuance of Declarations of Conformity, Certificates of Compliance, First Article Test reports, Material Conformance reports, and Product Test Certificates.

  • Compile and maintain Product Technical Files.

  • Coordinate on-site special product inspections with customers and certifying agencies.

  • Communicate product changes to 3rd party agencies and facilitate the review and approval process.

  • Assist the Quality Department Manager to ensure timely response and resolution to audit findings and opportunities for improvement.

  • Lead the gage calibration and verification process to ensure calibrations are properly maintained.

  • Participate in the internal quality system audits process. This includes pre-audit planning, audit execution, reporting, and post-audit follow-up.

  • Assist the Quality Department Manager with internal training for employees and department leaders regarding 3rd party product certification and regulatory compliance requirements.

Secondary Responsibilities Include:

  • Represent the Quality department in cross-functional teams and meetings, including Engineering and Manufacturing Process Change Boards and new product development tollgates.

  • Create and maintain procedures, work instructions and forms needed to be compliant to ISO9001

  • Maintain quality documents such as control plans, flow diagrams, and work instructions

Experience and Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years’ experience

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015

  • Prior experience in regulatory agency audits and correspondence

  • Technical writing ability. Ability to read and interpret technical product drawings

  • Ability to follow written procedures and monitor others for adherence to procedures

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail. Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.

  • Open-minded self-starter with the ability to adapt and problem solve, as well manage multiple tasks concurrently.

  • Working knowledge of CMM technology and programming a plus
