SUMMARY OF PRIMARY FUNCTION
This position has overall responsibility for key aspects of manufacturing for the Fluid Management business including Production, Safety, Facilities, Materials, and Logistics. Our manufacturing team includes about 30 employees with a combination of direct labor and indirect labor, including temporary workers.
Responsible for ensuring that products are produced and distributed to the highest safety and quality standards. Develop and maintain operational standards and parameters for all processes including all aspects of safety, quality, materials and productivity. Responsible for the ethical execution of company policies set forth by the management team to operate the facility in a safe, progressive manner and will practice a servant leadership model to build excellent teams. This role is a site-based role in Wheeling, IL.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, develop and coach a manufacturing organization of employees.
Lead the manufacturing operations to achieve company goals for product quality, on-time delivery, effective inventory management and manufacturing profit and productivity.
Monitor on going factory operations in all areas, resolve open operational issues and escalate issues to the right decision makers as necessary.
Monitor inventory levels of supplies and equipment needed to meet production schedule and coordinate with materials time to address any production needs.
Lead the materials team to effectively manage inventory to reduce overall costs and assure continuity in materials supply.
Monitor accurate records of inventory, rework and other product categories; assist accounting in resolving inventory questions.
Responsible for executing Annual Operating Plans (AOP) and achieving manufacturing profit targets.
Initiate and execute productivity improvements for all product lines; Work with continuous improvement teams to drive LEAN manufacturing processes and principals throughout the factory.
Support Lean Kaizen events as leader, participant as needed – drive improvement actions and awareness of Lean across all personnel. Actively support cross functional lean activity representing Production department.
In partnership with the Safety Officer, support and develop plant Safety programs including leadership representation at all safety meetings, leading teams to promote safety awareness.
Active involvement of a minimum of 4 hours per day on the floor interacting with all the operational employees (Supervisors, Leads, Assemblers and Fabricators) to be effective in this position.
Inform Manufacturing Engineering of production and equipment irregularities and support the investigation of root causes and solution implementations.
Facilitate monthly shift meetings with leads for all production shifts.
Utilize JDE and follow-on improvements to the ERP system functionality in order to facilitate better decision making and efficiency.
Lead effective efforts to restructure/eliminate ergonomically adverse manufacturing procedures.
Manage preventive maintenance program for equipment and tooling in support of process and product excellence.
Responsible for creating work schedules and coordinating requested vacation time coverage to maintain production schedule.
Responsible for reviewing weekly schedule required to meet production requirements.
Communicates work and company information to employees on a regular basis; seeks employees' opinions and ideas.
Review / update / oversee skill matrix and related training materials / parameters and training sign-off checklist.
All other duties as assigned or directed.
REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION
Bachelor’s Degree in Production, Operations, Business Management or Engineering discipline
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar role with increasing levels of responsibility
A minimum of 7 years’ working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to assembly and fabrication with at least 3 years in managing functions like manufacturing, materials & planning functions.
Track record of building process improvements
Demonstrated ability to build and lead great teams
Safety/OSHA compliance and reporting knowledge and understanding
Knowledge and application of Lean methods
Proficiency with budgeting, KPI’s monitoring and reporting
Excellent quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills
Interpersonal skills, Strong teamwork skills, Strong communication skills
ISO experience or exposure
PREFERRRED FOR THIS POSITION
JDE experience preferred especially using or deployed MRP/ MPS / MES
Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Certification – Green Belt
Proficient in data analytics and report building in PowerBi or equivalent
Kronos, Dimensions, ADP
WMS or other Warehouse management systems
Bilingual (Spanish\English) highly preferred
Certification – Green/Black in Lean/ Six Sigma highly preferred
Experience and expertise in establishing and operating automation in assembly lines
Advanced analytical skillset using Excel or others
Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment with multiple deadlines.
