IDEX Finance/Accounting Intern in Wheeling, Illinois

FLUID MANAGEMENT OVERVIEW :

INTERN OBJECTIVE:

Looking for an enthusiastic and driven Accounting or Finance student who is looking to gain practical experience in a manufacturing environment. This internship would provide hands on experience with developing excel skills (Vlookups, Sumif, concatenate, etc.), participate in annual SOX audit, assist with financial forecast and template creation, as well as work cross functionally with departments at Fluid Management. They will also learn profit & loss statement management as they assist with month end closing responsibilities. This internship will gain exposure to both Accounting and FP&A in a manufacturing environment, so it is a great opportunity for a student who is interested in both fields and wants to learn more about both areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Summer Project: Create Sales, Inventory, Operations, Planning (SIOP) accuracy report. Review prior year data and report on trends, findings and suggestions to Finance, Operations, and Commercial leads.

Forecast Experience: Create cost templates for each department, load templates into Infoview system, and report weekly on how each department is tracking to their monthly forecast. Attend expense review meetings with each department to ensure we have an accurate forecast.

SOX Controls: Assist FMA in our annual audit by gathering support needs for each control. At month end, partner with the team by completing monthly SOX controls.

Month End Closing: During our month end close, help the accounting team create journal entries in the JD Edwards system and ensure proper documentation is available. Review the monthly results vs forecast with the team and identify main drivers of variances. Assist in deeper dive of account activity when needed by pulling support and reviewing all activity.

Fixed Assets: Digitalize & organize fixed asset paper documentation. Assist Operations with adding asset tags to fixed assets to complete necessary audits.

Ongoing Projects/Tasks:

  • Complete daily inventory report as well as financial results file and distribute to the team for our daily report out to the business.

  • Group Intern project with the other interns in the program.

  • Present project summary and learnings to senior leadership team at conclusion of internship.

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY & SUBMISSION:

  • Must possess good organizational, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

  • Be able to manage multiple projects.

  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft

  • Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

  • Basic knowledge in finance/accounting

  • Degree with any of these subjects is acceptable.
