The Cost & FP&A Analyst maintains and monitors cost and manufacturing accounting processes and operations analysis for the Wheeling location. The role is responsible for the timely and accurate collection and reporting of cost and inventory related financial information and cost variance analysis. The role participates in inter-departmental projects as required to support business decisions and profitability improvement. Position requires knowledge of U.S. GAAP and manufacturing / financial reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley, and business operations in a growth-oriented environment.
REPORTING TO : Reports directly to the Controller
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participates in the month-end close, including preparation of required journal entries
Prepares Monthly Business Review package and supporting analysis
Prepares month end manufacturing variance reports
Prepares and reviews various daily/weekly operating metrics to monitor business performance
Analyzes and reviews bills of material to ensure accurate product costing
Prepares actual versus budget analysis, manufacturing profit variance analysis, and actual to standard cost comparisons
Performs product line profitability analysis
Performs service business profitability analysis
Proposes improvements in Operations and Working Capital
Organizes and leads the annual physical inventory and cost roll processes and manages the cycle counting process as appropriate
Participates in preparation of annual budget and forecast
Prepares quarterly EOZ analysis
Prepares and performs annual cost roll
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES
Degree in Accounting and/or Finance
Minimum of 3-5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
Superior verbal and written communication skills to work effectively outside the accounting department
Consistently operates at the highest level of integrity and is never willing to compromise with regards to ethical standards.
Experience in a process focused organization (Six Sigma, Value Streams) and experience working with JDE or ERP Systems is highly desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (advanced in Excel). Knowledge of Power BI is a plus.
Success in this position requires the ability to build a strong partnership with the business operations staff and to provide timely suggestions for cost reduction and margin improvement. These relationships must be built on respect, integrity, cooperation, teamwork and professionalism.
