IDEX Senior Mechanical Engineer (Hybrid Role) in Westwood, Massachusetts

Position Summary: In this role, the incumbent possesses and applies a broad knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and procedures that can be applied to the design of bioprocessing equipment.

Essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Apply advanced regulatory knowledge to design high-pressure piping and complex sanitary piping systems

  • Design and troubleshoot hydraulic systems

  • Integrate mechanical, electrical, and controls into the final system platform and test

  • Design, experiment, and test plans and then generate comprehensive testing reports

  • Create and document complex mechanical designs using CAD

  • Create and modify electronic control programs

  • Subject matter expertise in CE, cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and explosion-proof certifications

  • Provide verbal and written reports to the project manager and team

  • Demonstrate business acumen and have a strong understanding of the business strategy, expectations, and goals

  • Partner with suppliers to define and source system modules

  • Support internal and external customers by phone, virtual or in-person meetings

  • Provide leadership for highly customized projects and FAT on highly customized projects at the manufacturing facility

  • Ability to travel to customer locations or the manufacturing facility

Other duties, as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No direct reports, but can build followership with peers.

  • May be required to supervise or lead engineers in the future.

Organizational Relationships:

  • Must interface effectively and regularly with all departments on a regular basis with an emphasis on supporting the aftermarket and manufacturing teams.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering preferred) | 8 – 12 years of professional experience

Computer Skills:

  • Complete Microsoft suite of tools

  • CAD / SolidWorks
