Summary:

Key development team member that leads projects from initial scope through sustained production. Develops platform or modified product solutions for industrial applications. Assumes lead responsibility for development projects moderately complex in depth and bredth. Applies sound engineering judgment and leadership in evaluating and applying various mechanical, material, fabrication, and testing technologies. Qualifies that products meet customer expectations for release to manufacturing.

Essential Job Functions:

-Project leader responsible for adherence to project deliverable and master schedule. Facilitates lean daily project management meetings to focus project team on critical path & rapid deployment of countermeasures as needed

-Responsible for initial design concept generation. Able to produce designs as individual but focuses on hosting creative brain storming sessions to solicite best ideas from colloborative team. Able to funnel ideas into minimally viable prototype solutions. Performs engineering and mathematical calculations as required. Develops design concepts using CAD and solid modeling. Generate drawings that are suitable for production and inspection in accordance with quality policy

-Executes prototype design, build & testing with enough functionality to demonstrate solutions at customer facilities

-Host design reviews that generate constructive feedback and specific corrective actions. Ultimately uses design review process to create initial draft of product FMEA.

-Identifies all technical assumptions at design stage. Use design of experiments methodoligy prepare series of experiments that isolate variables in test to quickly but diligently prove product reliability.

-Maintains product technical ownership to continuous refine design via EC process through Alpha, Beta & Sustaining Product product life cycle stages

-Performs engineering and mathematical calculations as required. Develops design concepts using CAD and solid modeling. Generate drawings that are suitable for production and inspection in accordance with quality policy.

-Utilize Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools, as applicable to reduce process variation, eliminate non-value added activities and defects and improve customer satisfaction.

-Participation in at least one Kaizen event or on at least one Six Sigma project team annually.

Other Job Functions:

-Maintain and control financial impact of projects by meeting cost targets to achieve company target gross margins, completing projects to achieve company new product sales targets, and keeping project expenses at or below target for each project phase.

-Procures parts for projects departmental supplies, and production of special components following standard procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains awareness of advances in design and manufacturing tools, materials, and practices.

-Actively participates in company's commitment to ISO standards, Six Sigma, and other Corporate initiatives.

Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions:

Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds occasionally, movement with an office complex, write by hand keyboard. Communication is by phone, written correspondence (written and electronic) and in person. Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.

Job Conditions:

-General office and laboratory environment.

Qualifications: -MSME or BSME or equivalent required.

-3+ years design experience for industrial grade equipment

-Demonstrated Project Leadership taking multiple projects from start to finish

-Proficiency with Solidworks 3D & 2D design & drawing

-Experience with Solidworks Simulation a plus

-Successful design for Manufacturability, Quality or Six Sigma a plus

-Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, and co-workers.

-Ability to travel international is required.

-Must have authorization to work in the United States, and be able to have lawful access to controlled technology as required for this position.
