The Buyer II will play a vital role in the procurement process of materials, components, supplies, and services for our organization. Responsibilities will include placing orders, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. With a focus on cost-effectiveness and quality, the Buyer will contribute to maintaining a reliable supply chain that supports the smooth operation of the company. Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to build relationships with suppliers will be essential to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential suppliers and conduct market research to assess their capabilities, reliability, and competitiveness.

  • Evaluate supplier performance based on criteria such as quality, lead time, pricing, and service.

  • Maintain a database of approved suppliers and update supplier records regularly.

  • Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable payment terms, and other contract terms.

  • Collaborate with legal teams to review and finalize contractual agreements.

  • Generate purchase orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring alignment with approved requisitions and specifications.

  • Communicate purchase order details to suppliers, including quantities, delivery dates, and shipping instructions.

  • Monitor and track order status to ensure timely delivery and resolve any discrepancies or issues that may arise.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to foster open communication, resolve conflicts, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with suppliers to identify opportunities for cost savings, process enhancements, and quality improvements.

  • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and implement corrective actions when necessary.

  • Collaborate with inventory and production teams to forecast demand and ensure appropriate stock levels.

  • Monitor inventory levels, identify slow-moving or excess stock, and take necessary actions to optimize inventory levels and minimize carrying costs.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes, identifying opportunities for streamlining, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and best practices in procurement to drive innovation and improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.

  • Proven experience in a buyer or procurement role, preferably in a manufacturing or related industry.

  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive favorable terms and pricing.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, PowerBI and Microsoft Automate) skills

  • Solid understanding of procurement processes, contract management, and supply chain principles.

  • Proficient in using procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling procurement documentation.

  • Knowledge of legal and contractual terms related to procurement is a plus.

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Professional Purchasing Manager (CPPM) are desirable.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally, work with personnel on manufacturing floor, write by hand and keyboard and communicate by speech and hearing simultaneously.
