IDEX Applications Engineer Technician in West Jordan, Utah

Under general supervision, conducts evaluation and root cause analysis of returned product for rework, customer complaints and warranty processing. Works closely with sales and applications engineering to provide technical support and conduct product specific training for customers and channel partners.


  • Follow standard work and read engineering drawings to accurately evaluate and rebuild product

  • Communicate effectively with customer and internal departments to identify potential product

  • Conduct evaluation of returned products to establish Root Cause of failure

  • Provide status updates for rework and warranty to customer service as requested

  • Provide recommendations for rework and warranty disposition based on evaluations and customer application data

  • Record and document investigation results and provide fact based written technical reports on findings

  • Maintain good records with attention to detail and documentation of RMA’s for future reference

  • Train and maintain communication and technical support for Trebor Signature Service Program Providers

  • Provide technical product training for customers, distributors and sales representatives at Trebor and in the field as required.

  • Maintain Field Trip Reports from field support efforts.

  • Disseminate technical product information throughout organization, customers, distributors and sales representatives through the use of Technical Service Bulletins (TSB), Product Change Notices (PCN), Field Service Trip Reports, and other reporting methods when necessary.

  • Understand basic product construction, operation, and typical applications in order to make recommendations when necessary

  • Ability to learn skills and systems to effectively back up customer service function

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Understand and enforce stated company sales and marketing policies

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance

  • Provide support through product knowledge and staying aware of product changes

  • Develop thorough understanding of information system

  • Create and maintain good internal and external customer relationships

  • Troubleshoot mechanical assemblies and identify failure modes


  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. occasionally, movement within an office complex and outside in the field

  • Write by hand and keyboard

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills required

  • Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use

  • Significant travel is required


  • Requires significant travel (potentially 50%) in the assigned territory; travel environments will vary with exposure to industrial environments and geographic region

  • Must be comfortable traveling in geographic locations where customs and cultures are unfamiliar


  • B.S. in an Engineering discipline preferred with some experience in engineering or industrial sales

  • Mechanical aptitude required. Must be able to troubleshoot mechanical assemblies to identify failure modes.

  • Experience with fluid handling equipment, process controls, industrial product distribution and/or OEM account development is desired

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with customers and work within a team environment

  • Ability to work well independently and with a team

  • Ability to learn the product line and be able to speak to customers with confidence and expertise
