SCOPE OF ROLE:

In support of its expanding business, IDEX Health and Science is looking for a detail-oriented individual contributor to join its Supply Chain Team in the role of Sr. Planner/Buyer. The Sr. Planner/Buyer will be the Supply Chain Planning and Buying liaison with Operations, Quality, Finance, and Commercial Teams and will be responsible for scheduling internal production and buying outside materials and manufacturing services to support the assigned line of business. Success in this position calls for an individual with strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills who has a bias for action, pays attention to details, and has an excellent work ethic.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain production schedule which best meets firm & forecasted customer demand and balances supply capability/capacity.

  • Communicate gaps in supply vs. demand over the planning horizon.

  • Understand value stream and/or work-center capacity utilization and identify make/buy opportunities.

  • Create Work Orders for internal production execution.

  • Create Purchase Orders for external production and/or materials supply.

  • Participate in Daily Management Meetings to provide Supply Chain input to cross-functional team and to help prioritize production activities.

  • Collaborate with Production Team & Warehouse Team to define and implement stocking practices that ensure supply reliability and balance inventory objectives.

  • Lead sourcing activities (supplier identification, quote process, PO placing, and performance tracking) for newly identified outsource or material supply needs.

  • Maintain ERP system master data & transactional data in order to have correct systematic supply signals and manage MRP messages as appropriate.

  • Make recommendations for and participate in Continuous Improvement Initiatives.

  • Key success factors will be in managing On-Time Delivery, Schedule Attainment, Cost, & Reliability

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or another related field

  • APICS CPIM/CSCP Certification desired

  • Minimum of 5 years of Supply Chain or similar experience (Planning, Purchasing, Logistics, etc., preferably in a technical manufacturing environment)

  • Experience with MRP/ERP system, JDE experience a plus

  • Experience with planning/scheduling production to meet demand requirements, factoring in constraints

  • Experience with materials planning & purchasing

  • Experience establishing and maintaining excellent supplier relationships with new and existing suppliers

  • Experience negotiating with suppliers

  • Experience leading process improvement, cost-savings, and other projects

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, file directory navigation, ERP navigation, etc.)

  • Microsoft Excel proficiency (VLOOKUP/SUMPRODUCT Functions, Pivot Tables)

  • Must be very organized, able to work with strict deadlines, persistent in obtaining desired feedback from suppliers

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic team environment that promotes collaboration

  • Must be an autonomous and self-driven individual

  • Perform all duties in an independent and professional manner

  • Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and inquiries

  • This position requires <10% travel

  • This position is a site-based role in Rochester, NY area
