BUSINESS UNIT OVERVIEW:

IDEX Health & Science- Rochester, Filters/Semrock, group – based in Rochester, New York – develops and manufactures high-performance optical thin-film filters that set the standard for biotech and analytical instrumentation. The Semrock/Filters group is a rapidly growing, with revenue from both the volume OEM sales of tailored products and from the sales of standard catalog products to end-users. Semrock’s optical filter products are set apart by their state-of-the-art performance and reliability. Major markets include optical filters for fluorescence imaging and measurement systems, for Raman spectroscopy systems, and for laser-based analytical instrumentation.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Master Scheduler will be responsible for creating, managing, coordinating and administering the production scheduling process, incorporating several inputs into an aggregated Master Production Schedule (MPS) daily. Will work with Sales, Supply Chain and Operations teams to develop and manage forecast for long range material planning while considering current inventory, obsolescence, lead times, and production capacity, while serving as a resource to achieve the business objectives in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).

The successful candidate will own the MPS and be responsible for updates based on input from Sales, Customers, and the SIOP process. The Master Scheduler will work with Operations and Supply Chain to determine which products will be built on forecast or discreet jobs and update ERP accordingly. This role will coordinate daily with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure attainable schedules are in place that material procurement can accommodate. The Master Scheduler will collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to set appropriate finished goods and material WIP for the business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain MPS and make updates as required. Publish all changes

  • Understand current value stream capacity and set production schedules to ensure on-time delivery

  • Effectively balance new production and any customer returns, meeting committed ship dates

  • Manage production and forecast schedules in ERP system (JDE)

  • Conduct weekly Ship/Stock Analysis meetings with all value stream owners

  • Create and release work orders as needed

  • Establishes daily/weekly/monthly build schedules with value stream owners that align with MPS requirements

  • Provide production schedule updates daily for Daily Management Meetings

  • Participate in projects teams during Rapid Improvement Events (RIE’s),

  • Create and maintain delivery/schedule metrics that drive improvement activity

  • Make recommendations for and implement continuous improvement initiatives

  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in a technical field or business with minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience or Associates degree in a technical field and 10 years of relevant manufacturing experience.

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Scheduling, and Capacity management

  • 5 years of experience leading volume manufacturing in a high-mix environment on product with large bills of materials BOM’s > 50 parts per unit.

  • Production planning experience required.

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • JDE or Oracle experience preferred.

  • Optics experience preferred
