The Manufacturing Engineer will own manufacturing processes and lead data driven process improvement efforts in the optical assembly area.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Define and implement continuous improvement projects to reduce waste, improve product quality, and improve Customer service
Own process control documentation such as standard operating procedures, bills of materials, specifications, and routings
Develop new processes as required to support new product introduction
Train staff at new/revised processes
Lead improvements in machinery, equipment, and manufacturing methods
Support the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Value Stream Manager, and fellow team members
Contribute to the Daily Improvement meetings reviewing Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth
Develop and maintain safe work practices
REQUIREMENTS
BS or higher in Engineering, Optical Science, Material Science, or Physics.
Ability to perform optical tolerance calculations, primarily for transmitted/reflected wavefront distortion.
Understanding of polarization/interferometry/ spectroscopy theory, principles, and equipment.
Good interactive people skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, management and/or individuals.
Team player who supports both management and team members.
A quantitative, data-driven approach to problem solving.
This job requires compliance with ITAR Regulations. Therefore, the employee must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident.
PREFERRED

Experience with optical assembly methods and equipment
Experience with optical metrology techniques and equipment
Experience with optical contacting
Understanding of Lean/6-Sigma
Entrepreneurial thinking
Project management experience
Proficiency in SolidWorks
Proficiency programming in Labview
Ability to do electronic design and program firmware
Interest in current technology and trends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to:
Use eyesight for all aspects of the job.
Perform sedentary work at a workstation.
Perform testing and process development on the production floor.
Operate computerized equipment and perform calculations.
Perform legible written communication.
Demonstrate upper body mobility to use the telephone, operate computer system and equipment on the production floor.
Bend as necessary for sitting and using computers, telephone and equipment on the production floor.
