SCOPE OF ROLE:

In support of its expanding business, IDEX Health and Science (IH&S) is looking for a well-rounded person to join its engineering team in the role of Electrical Engineer. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for product design and development, procurement, life cycle management, and product support activities associated with IH&S complex systems build demand. This person will be required to interface closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, production teams, and customer teams in a solutions-oriented partnership to deliver a competitive performance advance with accelerated time to market.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and develop embedded hardware including generating circuit schematics, printed circuit board layout with custom component footprints and high-speed digital routing, assembly documentation, and bills of materials

  • Coordinate with mechanical engineers to consider system design constraints including physical space limitations, external system connectivity, heat generation, and cabling assemblies

  • Design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware for new products as well as existing products and understand how to program and support firmware across multiple product and device lines

  • Design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded and application level software for new products as well as existing products

  • Research electrical components and understand technical documentation to make design decisions and recommendations to management

  • Obtain bids, coordinate and communicate product requirements and design constraints, and assist in the selection of appropriate vendors for indirect supplies and services

  • Place orders directly as well as prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with established procedures for non-production and production materials, supplies and services

  • Design, oversee, and analyze testing procedures and their generated data for product performance, product specifications, and product lifetime operation with the ability to automate testing and integrate precision sensors for production in addition to engineering

  • Support the sales organization and customers directly with product capability and specification questions, product issues, and through reproducing customer setups and test conditions including physical and virtual hardware for proper debugging and problem diagnosis

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering

  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience (to include full-time and internships)

  • Familiarity with designing on, using, and providing customer support for multiple OS including Windows, Linux, and Mac

  • Familiarity with multiple coding languages including C/C++, Python, and VHDL

  • Familiarity with multiple embedded interface standards including RS232, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, and USB

PREFERRED SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Flexibility to meet continuous changing priorities and challenges

  • Detailed oriented person with very strong organizational skills and an excellent work ethic

  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter

  • Balancing and prioritizing multiple simultaneous requests

  • Experience designing on multiple embedded ICs including microcontrollers, DPSs, and FPGAs

  • Experience designing and integrating multiple APIs, SDKs, and libraries in product design thru end-user support
