IDEX Health & Science, Life Science Optics – based in Rochester, New York –IDEX Health & Science’s line of products is comprised of a Light Sources Group and an Optical Systems Group. The Light Sources Group manufactures a variety of visible, low to moderate power lasers and laser-based systems uniquely designed for consistent performance. The Light Sources Group offers three basic types of lasers: gas (helium-neon and ion lasers), diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers, and semiconductor diode laser assemblies. SCOPE OF ROLE:
In support of its expanding business, the Filters/Semrock group is looking for a versatile person to join its manufacturing team in the role of a Planner. The position will be part of the Demand Planning team and will be responsible for creating manufacturing work orders and determining schedules for the optics manufacturing department of the plant operations in West Henrietta, NY. The successful candidate in this role will thrive on a fast-paced and dynamic environment that balances the day-to-day workflow with the longer-term strategic objectives, will be self-motivated and will be required to work unsupervised at times.
Execution of supply chain functions: production planning, capacity planning, and applicable data analytics.
Implementation of daily, weekly, and monthly production plans for manufacturing departments.
Balance of supply and demand planning activities that enable superior on-time, in-full order fulfillment necessary to achieve a second to none customer experience and sales objectives.
Identification of supply and demand gaps and leadership of cross functional supply-demand gap remediation efforts.
Ownership of planning and the scheduling tools in the ERP.
Ownership of the adherence to schedule reporting and relevant manufacturing performance metrics.
Creation of manufacturing work orders based on demand requirements
Scheduling of equipment and prioritization of work orders
Creating optics manufacturing work orders based on incoming orders and different stocking strategies
Scheduling of equipment and prioritization of work orders of finishing department based on sales and forecast needs
Creating manufacturing travelers for all optics manufacturing jobs
Setting up and maintaining manufacturing jobs and templates in ERP system
Ownership of Bill of Materials (BOM) and manufacturing operations in ERP system
Assisting with the kitting of materials for job orders and inventory tracking as necessary
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
3 or more years' related experience in capacity/demand/production planning
APICS certification desired, but not required
Experience in a manufacturing environment with lean manufacturing practices and process documentation preferred
Experience with MRP or ERP Systems, especially JD Edwards
