IDEX Accountant in Waterloo, Ontario

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining and enhancing all accounting processes and procedures for the business to ensure the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements for three business lines (Quadro, Microfluidics and Fitz). The incumbent will report to the Finance Controller, MPT Waterloo.


  • Ensure all financial statements and reports are completed in a timely, accurate manner

  • Month end close including journal entries and reporting

  • Fixed Asset Accounting

  • Prepare assigned monthly, quarterly, and yearly schedules

  • Ensure all monthly account reconciliations are performed accurately, completely, and on time.

  • Monthly external commission accrual and payments

  • Responsible for the implementation of robust internal controls, monitoring compliance, and for the maintenance of adequate documentation

  • Ensure compliance with all US state sales taxes.

  • Ensure compliance with HST

  • Manage the audit process as assigned. Supports all internal, external and SOX audit activity

  • Meet strict month end reporting deadlines

  • Implements process and procedural improvements to optimize the workflow within the department

  • Expected to advise the Finance Controller immediately of any errors, irregularities or significant adjustment or journal entries as they occur

  • Other duties, as assigned


Must Have:

  • Degree or Diploma in Accounting or Finance

  • 2 - 5 years related accounting experience

  • Solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SOX with experience driving improvements in internal controls

  • Precise attention to detail

  • Ability to meet deadlines; highly organized person

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to interact clearly and confidently with all levels in the organization

  • High level of integrity and ethical standards

  • Strong work ethics

  • Strong leadership and team building skills and sense of urgency

  • Advanced Excel skills

Nice to Have:

  • Currently working towards CPA designation

  • Visual ERP experience

  • Onestream experience
