OVERVIEW:

The Director of Product Management and Marketing is responsible for leading a team of product managers and marketing specialists to develop the North American marketing strategy, gather market intelligence, drive product lifecycle management and develop high impact marketing communication in partnership with the broader commercial senior leadership team.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly managing a team of product managers across all 4 NA Fire & Safety businesses.

  • Directly mange the marketing team to drive branding, marketing communications and product marketing across the NA F&S portfolio of products and solutions.

  • Understanding of marketing strategies and product management principles with the ability to coach and develop these skills within the team.

  • Evaluate the financial aspects of product development, such as budgets, expenditures, research and development appropriations, or return-on-investment and profit-loss projections. Accustomed to owning the ROI revenue targets and driving same to completion.

  • Develop a full understanding of the competitive landscape using SWOT methodology and gathered market intelligence.

  • Assessment of current market intelligence and intelligence gathering tools & methods. Implement changes in process and tool sets to fully leverage market intelligence.

  • Operate as a thought leader and influencer in the market (ex. Participate on committees that develop standards, speaking engagements and customer facing activities.)

  • Develop and deploy a coordinated and fully leveraged marketing plan, including an effective use of social media

  • Ensure strong collaboration between the global set of business units, where brand, products and customer sets overlap

  • Partner with the VP-F&S Strategy & Innovation to help shape and deploy the global Fire & Safety brand

  • Analyze market intelligence data to obtain better knowledge of required methods, procedures, and activities.

  • Estimate financial impact of current and proposed change recommendations for management review, action, and controls.

  • Support strategic business initiatives from conception to completion

Additional Desired Skills:

  • Experience with CRM software, preferably Salesforce

  • Experience with MRP systems, preferably JDE

  • Demonstrated social media marketing experience/knowledge

  • Education and Training -- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a focus on Business Management, Sales or Marketing preferred

  • 7+ years of leadership experience in Marketing, Product Management, Sales or similar roles.

  • MBA in marketing, strategy or equivalent discipline preferred.

  • Strategic thinker with ability to translate insights into actionable strategies and execution

  • Excellent communication, influencing, and presentation skills at all levels; visualization skills and the ability to succinctly articulate concepts and ideas in a simple fashion

  • Experience with business analytics including qualitative and quantitative research, contextual inquiry; ability to analyze data to form conclusions and identify root causes of problems or issues

  • Team oriented, collaborative, and passionate advocate for own recommendations and ideas while maintaining flexibility to incorporate others’ points of view

  • Comfortable working in grey space areas within a fast moving and changing organization

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at scale

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Power Point, Visio, Word, and Outlook)
