IDEX Manufacturing Molding Engineer in Vancouver, Washington

SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision, committed to establishing and recommending improvements to production processes, product design, quality, and component production; reduces cost and lead times by investigating alternate tooling processes and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Creates, designs, or modifies complex existing designs to develop and improve products, assemblies, injection molds, dies, and machine tools from engineering concepts, sketches, instructions, or custom applications. Prepares complex layouts, engineering drawings, and sketches of injection molds, tooling components, and schematics. Operates CAD equipment to perform the above.

  • Performs mathematical calculations to consider the strength of materials and standard machine design parameters. Utilizes statistical methods to evaluate machine, process, and product capability. Initiates and accurately completes Engineering Change Notices (ECNs). Reviews completed ECNs for overall impact. Performs complex stack-up analysis on new or existing products, dies, molds, and machine tools.

  • Dispositions of parts and assemblies rejected by production. Investigates part application, directs necessary action, and initiates production drawings and procedures changes.

  • Analyzes and improves manufacturing techniques and processes by investigating existing procedures, tooling, costs, and alternate methods; implements necessary changes by cooperating with Manufacturing Services to improve component cost and quality.

  • Coordinates/directs the fabrication, construction, and implementation of tooling and production aids. Communicates with vendors and in-house personnel to receive quotations, answer questions, and resolve problems.

  • As applicable, utilize Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools to reduce process variation, eliminate non-value-added activities and defects, and improve customer satisfaction.

  • Support at least one Kaizen event or on at least one six sigma project team annually.

  • Regular and reliable attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Creates, documents, and trains on procedures involving assembly and manufacturing processes. Creates and writes PC-based programs for collecting, manipulating, and generating pertinent data.

  • Designs and conducts controlled experiments with the process and product design changes to determine the impact on affected products and applications.

  • Collaborates actively on the product introduction teams representing the Operations group. Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally, movement within manufacturing and office environment, write by hand and keyboard.

  • Ability to communicate by speech and hearing continuously. Communication through telephone, writing, reading, and keyboard. You are required to have Visual acuity for close detail work and computer use.

JOB CONDITIONS

  • Light manufacturing and testing environment, general office environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Plastics Engineering is highly preferred.

  • One to three years of experience in the manufacturing/production environment is preferred.

  • Must have process molding experience.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

  • Must have the Authorization to work in the United States and have lawful access to controlled technology as required for this position.

COMPENSATION RANGE

  • The estimated annual compensation range for this position is up to $90,000.00

  • This position is eligible to participate in Micropump's local annual bonus plan. The target bonus for this position will be 8% of your base compensation based on business performance.

  • This position is also eligible for our comprehensive U.S. benefit offerings, which include Health benefits, 401(k) retirement savings program with company match, etc., and eligible for pro-rated two-week vacation.
