IDEX Shipping Coordinator in Rutherford, New Jersey

POSITION SUMMARY

The Shipping Coordinator will be responsible for managing daily shipping and distribution activities. You will be the one to ensure complete orders are shipped and delivered in a timely manner. A successful shipping coordinator is analytical, well-organized and excels in communication. They must be comfortable with paperwork and information systems and have great knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures. The goal is to ensure that the shipping processes are running smoothly and effectively.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process shipment documentation and inspect completed orders.

  • Plan and maintain weekly shipping schedule to ensure on-time pick and delivery of customer products.

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders (such as warehouse workers, vendors, purchasing managers, suppliers etc.)

  • Utilize JD Edwards ERP system to enter and track information.

  • Coordinate with broker on international shipments.

  • Act as a liaison between management, carriers, and customers.

  • Generate paperwork packages for internal use Ensure timely and cost-effective shipment methods.

  • Evaluate carrier performance and resolving issues with orders and logistics.

  • Negotiate the price of shipment transportation with carriers. Identify shipping issues and implement solutions in a timely manner.

  • Create and present reports for upper management.

  • Additional projects and duties as necessary.

  • Strong customer-service focus with pleasant and professional telephone manner

  • Demonstrates ability to be a team player by actively participating in assigned teams as well as inter-company, cross-functional and/or special committees

  • Demonstrates communications skills necessary to effectively interact with coworkers and outside contacts

  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and MS Office

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalency exam required.

  • 2 + years experience in a shipping coordinator of similar position within a Manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of logistics, operations, and shipping procedures and documents

  • Required to wear safety glasses and utilize other safety equipment as required while present on shop floor.
