The Production Supervisor reports to the Manufacturing Manager and has responsibility for the warehouse and inventory which includes effective flow of material from the receiving dock to the warehouse and then throughout the production facility. Primary function is to facilitate accurate material transactions and processing. The warehouse, truck driver, parts area, receiving dock, and shipping dock falls under the responsibility of the Production Supervisor.
Principle Duties :
Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring the production employees use or wear the proper safety equipment and personal protective equipment. Communicate safety policies, rules and regulations and procedures to production employees
Leads teams in problem solving and process improvement through investigation of root cause, identification of counter measures and follow up on sustainment. Primary focus on inventory metrics including inventory accuracy through cycle counts and timely inventory transactions
Optimize Employee workflow in the following areas – receiving dock, shipping dock, warehouse, and parts counter
Responsible for domestic logistics including inbound and outbound freight
Coordination and tracking of employee training. Mentor and coach production employees.
Conflict resolution and disciplinary actions in accordance with internal policies and the collective bargaining agreement
Evaluate production employees through daily production metrics including safety, quality, delivery and productivity
Ensure the compliance with ISO9001 requirements are maintained and conformance to the quality policy and standards are met
Develop and/or update inventory and operational policies, procedures, and work instructions to ensure efficient operations in the warehouse
Coordinates rapid improvement events with emphasis on lean principles that include standard work, one-piece flow, visual management and 5S (i.e., reorganizing the warehouse to improve flow, labelling standard, lot control implementation)
Evaluate production requirements including headcount through workforce planning and capacity analysis
Review inventory activity and make recommendations for obsolescence. Review EOZ items and recommend items for disposal or substitution
Recommend changes to inventory levels (i.e., minimum/maximum levels, reorder quantities, estimated annual usage, etc.). Lead and improve material/inventory management best practices including planning, purchasing methods, warehouse management and advanced replenishment methods
Required Qualifications :
3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
1 year of direct manufacturing supervisory experience preferred
Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical related field preferred
Experience with manufacturing and lean tools including
FMEA, Corrective Action Process, RCCM, PDCA, Standard Work, 5S, Visual Management, Daily Management
Experience with ISO9001 certification
Lifting requirements are generally less than 25 lbs. Lifting could occasionally reach the company maximum of 40 lbs.
