IDEX Senior Sustainment Engineer in Rochester, New York

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Senior Sustainment Engineer at Pulsafeeder is responsible for product and technical support for the Engineered products at Pulsafeeder in its operational environment. The Sustainment Engineer will identify, review, assess product and technical deficiencies and develop solutions by leading projects to ensure continued operation and improve the capability and efficiency of the engineered product offerings including the hydraulic metering pumps and gear pumps. This is achieved primarily by partnering with all the departments and functions across the business to plan and provide a strategic direction for the product offerings. This position will have broad influence across the organization and will work closely with Pulsafeeder’s leadership teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provide project leadership across multiple functions including NPD, Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality, Planning, Purchasing, Compliance, and Manufacturing to maintain and improve engineered product offerings

  • Responsible for organizing, planning, monitoring, controlling, and scheduling the necessary activities of medium to large scale projects to achieve goals

  • Support Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Field Service, Applications Engineering and Sales in resolving any part or product quality or manufacturing issues

  • Requires strong technical writing in support of design inputs, design outputs, qualification activities, and regulatory requirements

  • Translate user needs and customer inputs into clear, concise design requirements and design concepts

  • Responsible for the coordination of Installation, Operational and Performance Qualification activities for various equipment and manufacturing processes as part of a product re-design and launch

  • Partner and collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality and other Product Development engineers to provide technical and manufacturing support to ensure that products are optimally designed for quality, reliability, manufacturing, and cost

  • Review, recommend, and implement updates to current product designs

  • Prepare and conduct design reviews in accordance with the quality system requirements and take the re-design of a product from conception into production

  • Lead root cause investigations for the resolution of product quality problems and implements correction plans to prevent quality issues from re-occurring

  • Support and contribute to continuous improvement activities including Rapid Improvement Events (RIE) and Just Do It events (JDI). This includes identification of operations and support cost reduction opportunities

  • Travel to off-site customer facilities to support product in the field as needed

  • Shop floor support as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in a lean manufacturing environment

  • Strong track record of leading and implementing sustainment or NPD projects

  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD required

  • Experience in engineering laboratories performing tests, evaluations of prototype devices and systems

  • Experience in a High Mix, Low Volume Environment preferred

  • Experience in Union environment preferred

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Able to work collaboratively with all departments

  • Possess a strong sense of ownership and drive

  • Bias towards action and velocity in execution

  • Well organized, and comfortable working under pressure and by using problem-solving methodology

  • Excellent communication/presentation skills (written and verbal)

  • Ability to create, read and interpret engineering component drawings and assembly drawings

  • Familiarity with pumps, hydraulics, controller, and instrumentation preferred

  • Basic Fabrication knowledge – mill lathe, machining, and welding

  • Trained in Design for Manufacture and Assembly

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $83,500.00 - $125,300.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
