IH&S includes 6 focused business lines: Integrated Analytical Solutions, IVD/Bio, Connections, MicroFluidics, Optical Systems and Optical Filters. The global Team brings extensive experience with over 1100 colleagues across 8 sites located in Rohnert Park CA, Oak Harbor WA, Middleboro MA, Bristol CT, Carlsbad, CA, Rochester, NY, Zweibrücken, Germany and Kawaguchi, Japan. Markets include Proteomics, Spatial Biology, Chromatography, In Vitro Diagnostics, Point of Care, and Biotechnology and more. Products include Optical Filters, Illumination Modules, Optical Subsystems, Column Hardware, Degassers, Fluidic Connections, Manifolds, Pumps, Pump Components, Microfluidic Consumables, Subsystems and Valves.

Reporting Relationships:

The Vice President Operations directly manages the Operations function and leadership team, reports to the President of IDEX Health and Science (IH&S) and is part of the IH&S Leadership Team.

Role Location: Open to remotely based candidates, however, we strongly prefer a candidate near a U.S. based IDEX Health & Science site

Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Group President, IDEX Health and Science, the Vice President of Operations, IDEX Health & Science (IH&S) will lead a team of over 800 people to lead global operations through the IDEX Operating Model. This senior leader will develop talent, lead and integrate 80/20 into Manufacturing and Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Continuous Improvement processes to drive world-class customer delivery times, in addition to margin and working capital improvement. Other key KPIs include safety, quality, and delivery, while delivering financial commitments and ensuring production staff understanding and buy-in on key operating metrics.

This leader will have a proven track record of leading strategic operational initiatives with a sense of urgency to achieve results that meet and exceed business strategies. He/she will possess the ability to design and implement a metric-driven operational system, while continually creating and supporting a mindset of continuous improvement across a manufacturing organization. The individual will have strong financial acumen and an ability to align the manufacturing plan with the business’ strategic profitable growth objectives.

The selected individual will be a natural leader and a fast-paced collaborative team player who is able to lead both directly and through influence, while adapting quickly to situations with high levels of ambiguity. He/she will be a transformational operations leader with experience crafting growth-oriented manufacturing strategies while managing a complex production system. As a high-drive/low-ego organizational change leader, our successful candidate must also have a track record of developing future functional leaders; therefore, he/she needs to have a proven ability to quickly assess and develop talent.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities for the VP Operations, IH&S include:

  • Develop and drive the multi-year operational strategy to accelerate business growth.

  • Accountable for all Operations including Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory Compliance, Safety, Maintenance, Facilities, Planning, Customer Service, Manufacturing Engineering, and Shipping/Receiving.

  • Drive a continued commitment to Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence while deploying new technologies, capital improvements and processes, and preparing the organization to leverage those disciplines for future acquisitions.

  • Lead as an IDEX Operating Model practitioner and coach for our teams.

  • Review, analyze and drive internal performance measures. Specifically, define and drive improvement on KPI’s in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost and working capital. Direct corrective actions when necessary.

  • Drive and set standards around effective daily management of the operation throughout the day by leaders that walk the shop floor with purpose and regular cadence (Leader Standard Work and Gemba Walks)

  • Shephard key business processes such as SIOP, PFEP, etc. and integrate forecasting to ensure the supply plan and manufacturing capacity meets the demand plan

  • Drive Continuous Improvement / OPEX process improvement projects and RIE (Kaizen) Events designed to improve delivery performance, lead time, logistics optimization, and operational efficiency

  • Develop and manage key metrics and KPI’s (Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost) relevant to business and operational excellence.

  • Develop and own budgeting and execution with a focus on productivity and sourcing savings across the IH&S portfolio.

  • Coach and use Performance Management to build a strong and effective team. Provide leadership and direction to staff members, ensuring clarity of objectives and coordination of activities.

  • Develop a strong and deep talent pool to build bench strength for IH&S and prepare individuals for other opportunities within IDEX.

Requirements & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management or other related field required. A Master’s Degree is preferred.

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in industrial engineered products manufacturing required

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a management role with responsibility for manufacturing operations in different operating environments required

  • Proven track record of successful implementation of SIOP required

  • Strong team leadership and development capabilities and communications skills; an ability to work with and influence a variety of different positions within an organization.

  • Demonstrated servant leadership behaviors to influence and manage people/teams while creating followership with others.

  • Experience integrating businesses is strongly preferred

  • Ability to travel approximately up to 50% of the time

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $192,900.00 - $289,300.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
