Position Summary

The buyer plans, organizes, and controls buying strategies for manufacturing by effectively managing assigned suppliers and materials. The buyer will be responsible for the timely delivery of high-quality material to the manufacturing facility and managing the raw material inventory levels at desired cost targets. This position requires working effectively with our suppliers, planners and manufacturing personnel to coordinate and facilitate a continuous and seamless supply flow.

Essential Functions

  • Global and domestic supply chain management

  • Supplier cost and terms negotiation.

  • Develop sourcing strategies to gain material productivity and cost savings of $50k a year

  • Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions

  • Daily MRP review, order placement, and expediting

  • Order management

  • Late PO follow up

  • Inventory management through the execution of good buying practices

  • Supplier management to ensure timely deliveries of quality product

  • NMR processing

  • Managing ECNs to suppliers of assigned items

  • Implementation of purchasing programs designed to reduce inventory and improve turns.

  • Monitor and improve supplier on-time delivery for assigned suppliers

  • Identify and assist with qualifying new suppliers

  • Evaluate and audit existing suppliers’ performance on key metrics (quality, delivery, cost)

  • Manage multiple priorities in a continuously changing environment

  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

EDUCATION

  • BA/BS degree in business or engineering field

EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of experience in buying required, preferably in a manufacturing setting

  • Experience in purchasing low volume, high precision, engineered commodities preferred

  • C.P.M. or A.P.P. certification desired

  • Experience in MRP Systems desirable (JDE preferred)

  • Experience with Global Supply Chain Management

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and Outlook

  • Technical procurement and supplier validation skills

Physical Environment and Environmental Factors

  • Approximately 10% of the time will be spent on the manufacturing floor

  • Lifting requirements are generally less than 25 lbs. Lifting could occasionally reach the company maximum of 40 lbs.

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $64,200.00 - $96,400.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
