The Value Stream Manager is a key member of the AFS Operations leadership team and is responsible for providing direct management and overall leadership of the assigned value stream, managing safety/regulatory requirements, production quality, delivery, inventory and cost to meet customer expectations by utilizing the Daily Management process in a highly technical assembly and machining environment. This position requires collaboration with the Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering and Commercial teams to balance priorities in a changing and flexible environment. Knowledge of continuous improvement and Lean tools will be a key part of successful problem solving, waste reduction, and driving productivity in production processes. The Value Stream Manager is expected to be a servant leader to their assigned value stream by ensuring all needs are met, team members are accountable to their expectations, and building a cohesive team.

Job Requirements:

  • Production planning in a high mix, low volume environment.

  • Creating and managing workflow and work orders in an MRP system.

  • Driving inventory control/accuracy through sound transactional processes and accountability to such.

  • Utilize team leads and continuous improvement tools to reduce waste/costs while improving daily management processes and driving root cause analysis and action for SQDC KPI’s

  • Effectively produce written documents such as production reports or procedures/ work instructions when necessary.

  • Effectively produce verbal reports and presentations.

  • Implement RCCM methodology to identify source of problems and correct the root cause.

  • Servant leadership of direct labor employees, including accountability to performance standards, evaluating team needs, and removing barriers for the team to meet targets

  • Ability to communicate clearly on business objectives down to individual level and drive for results.

  • Performance management of direct labor personnel including hiring, onboarding, training, compliance, development of career ladder step progressions, and termination if necessary.

  • Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company

  • Accountable for contact between the value stream and external stakeholders, including commercial or engineering teams, to quickly communicate problems in delivery, quality or process flow.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing operations

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience formally leading a team

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing operations involving machining and mechanical assembly activities.

  • Successful track record of utilizing Continuous Improvement Methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, TOC)

  • Experience with Operation relocation or acquisition integration

  • Experience with MRP systems, JD Edwards

  • Experience working with ISO 9001 or QMS systems.

  • Demonstrated Mechanical Aptitude

  • Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings or ability to learn

  • Experience leading teams in highly skilled mechanical assembly and machining processes.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
