Position Title: Receiving Lead

Classification: Non-exempt

Reports To: Warehouse Value Stream Manager

The Receiving Lead is responsible for leading AFS’s receiving team to ensure quality products are received and delivered. The Receiving Lead will assist with pulling, packaging and scheduling orders as well as ensure all proper paperwork and documentation is completed.

Essential Functions

  • Requires the ability to learn and understand lean principles

  • Lead, coordinate, schedule, and review work of assigned team

  • Provide leadership and guidance to employees

  • Partner with production area to assure products are completed and ready for delivery according to customer requirements Delete: more related to shipping function.

  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of receipts and supporting documentation

  • Receive product from vendors, ensuring physical count matches purchase order/invoice, and resolve discrepancies when they do not match. Process paperwork and complete all necessary transactions according to established procedures.

  • Utilize most effective equipment, considering skills of staff, to cost-effectively achieve objectives while concurrently implementing efforts to continuously improve performance.

  • Monitor activities and initiate actions to eliminate problems, ensure that employees are properly trained, and work is performed in accordance with health and safety requirements

  • Actively participates in problem prevention and problem solving as part of AFS’s ongoing program of continuous improvement

  • Maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with management, peers, and other stakeholders in order to meet overall business objectives

  • Provide continuous coaching and training to direct teams continuously improve performance

  • Accurately performs required inventory transactions in the inventory system (JD Edwards (JDE))

  • Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities

  • Safely operates Forklift and other material handling equipment per the plant safety policies

  • Operate Forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to safely move parts to proper locations (per safety policy) and load and unload trucks as necessary.

  • Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company

  • Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output

  • Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety to self and co-workers

  • Report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources and immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability

  • Performs other duties as required

  • Ensure replenishment triggers (Kanban cards) are completed in a timely fashion

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum five (5) years’ experience in shipping and/or receiving with at least three (3) years in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Education and Experience

Associate or bachelor’s degree

Two (2) years supervisor or lead experience

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Demonstrate good organizational skills and good follow-up techniques

  • Must be able to multitask

  • Intermediate math requirements, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

  • Ability to calculate percentages

  • Advanced computer skills

  • Demonstrate responsibility, teamwork, respect, dependability, patience, and productivity in order to create a positive work environment

Work Environment

Exposure to manufacturing environment. Noise level may vary from moderate office environment to noisy/loud in the plant area. Proper use of safety equipment such as steel-toed shoes and safety glasses, is required.
