Position Title: Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer will report to the Director of Operational Excellence and is responsible to develop, implement and maintain methods, operation routings and processes in the manufacture, fabrication, assembly and testing of parts, sub and final assemblies. This position also interfaces with and serves as intermediary between the engineering design, quality inspection and production implementation functions with respect to new product introductions. Applicant must have the ability to continually improve the quality, manufacturability and value of current products utilizing Standard Work, Flow, 5S, Kanban, SMED, and other Lean tools, estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new and existing product lines. Will maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations ensuring robust processes are in place.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists Director of Operational Excellence in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training.

  • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce and scale new/revised products, ensuring seamless integration from design to production.

  • Designs, develops, and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.

  • Perform detailed analysis of production workflows, identifying opportunities for automation, cost reduction, and process optimization.

  • Utilize advanced data-driven techniques to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to improve manufacturing efficiency and output.

  • Lead the development and implementation of efficient manufacturing processes using advanced technologies such as CNC machining, automation, and digital tools (IoT, data analytics).

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continually improve manufacturing processes and stay competitive in the market.

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts using Lean methodologies (7S, Kaizen, SMED), Six Sigma tools, and value stream mapping to enhance product manufacturability and quality.

  • Design and validate new tooling, fixtures, and equipment required to support CNC machining, assembly, and testing operations.

  • Documents and maintains processes for manufacturing operations such as Bill of Material (BOM), tooling, fixturing, gaging, etc.

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of Engineering Change Requests & Notices.

  • Support and Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality/complaints issues, working closely with the quality and production teams.

  • Supports the Focus Factory Managers with disposition and root cause countermeasure of assembly and machining scrap.

  • Supports new product development by performing detailed feasibility, project timing and cost estimate studies.

  • Leads process development and integration efforts for introduction of new and redesigned products.

  • Support engineering efforts in CNC programming, tool path optimization, and the design of custom work-holding fixtures for complex machining tasks.

  • Develop and maintain work instructions, routings, and time studies for both existing and new products, ensuring consistency and accuracy in production operations.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings.

  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for designing and optimizing machining processes (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam).

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Familiarity with modern manufacturing technologies, including IoT, data analytics, and Industry 4.0 tools.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a proven ability to drive root cause analysis and implement process improvements.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with hands-on experience in CNC machining, process engineering, and automation

  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment (ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for manufacturing operations.

  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher).

  • Previous experience in heavy machining and assembly environments.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Travel :

·10-15% Domestic.
