IDEX Commodities Manager in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

The Corken Commodity Manager will develop, prioritize, and execute short and long-term sourcing initiatives that reduce supply chain complexity and achieve minimum of 3% YOY material productivity. Use a variety of tools to drive supplier delivery and quality improvements. Identify and develop best “in-region supply base” for critical components while also reducing overall supply chain complexity.

Essential Functions

  • Utilizes 80/20 mindset to establish strategy and reduce supply base complexity for assigned commodities. This also includes identifying opportunities for product complexity reduction and leading project teams to do so.

  • Responsible to negotiate and manage suppliers to achieve quality, delivery, and cost targets within respective commodities.

  • Negotiates contracts with suppliers of assigned commodities ensuring that the best total cost is realized. Contracts will include such items, as discounts, payment terms, shipping terms, stocking agreements, quality parameters, service requirements, supply chain connections and other items deemed valuable to Gast.

  • Manages existing supply base to continually improve performance. Understands the current suppliers and economic conditions to effectively mitigate risk.

  • Responsible to drive internal efforts to resolve supplier issues.

  • Stays abreast of current market conditions and new technologies within their markets in order for Gast to take advantage of these.

  • Performs other duties as required

  • Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company

  • Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output

  • Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety to self and co-workers

Required Education and Experience

BS degree in Supply Chain Management or related discipline

At least five (5) years in a manufacturing environment with increasing responsibilities or equivalent experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus

  • Six Sigma experience is a plus

  • Strong electro-mechanical experience including motors is a plus

  • Casting experience a plus

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work

  • Demonstrate good organizational skills and good follow-up techniques

  • Must be able to multitask

  • Demonstrated Project Management Skills

  • Excellent analytical skills

Supervisory Responsibility


Work Environment

Exposure to manufacturing environment. Noise level may vary from moderate office environment to noisy/loud in the plant area. Proper use of safety equipment such as steel-toed shoes, goggles, safety glasses, gloves, apron and face shield must be observed.
