Summary of Buyer Position

An accomplished supply chain buyer with a detail-oriented and process-driven approach, bringing extensive experience to a pivotal role within the supply chain purchasing department. This position demands discretion and independent judgment for strategic planning, precise ordering, and effective management of raw materials, ensuring the seamless delivery essential for meeting production requirements. Responsibilities encompass ownership of inventory coverage, execution of orders for externally sourced goods, and maintaining optimal stock levels to support production efficiency. Operating in a highly complex, innovative, and dynamic work environment. The buyer possesses strong communication, organizational, and analytics skills, coupled with influential capabilities and in-depth knowledge of MRP and ERP. Thriving in deadline-driven scenarios, this professional excels in a fast-paced, independent, judgment-centric work setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Procure raw materials and other supplies from approved suppliers for the production of finished goods to meet forecasted demand and production schedules.

  • Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication, and mitigation of future potential risk.

  • Using system and independent judgment to expedite or defer orders as required based on schedule/inventory changes.

  • Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns to supplier, including working with quality.

  • Maintain PO accuracy in JDE

  • Provide monthly forecasts to strategic suppliers and monitor and manage forecast accuracy

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers

  • Responsible for managing inventory of assigned raw materials to defined targets

  • Using system parameters and discretion review and update safety stock and replenishment parameters on an ongoing basis, per company guidelines, to ensure inventory and service levels are optimized

  • Monitor and manage excess and obsolete inventory risk for assigned parts

  • Communicate and collaborate with internal groups i.e. production scheduling, sourcing, supplier quality, and engineering to build and foster effective working relationships

  • Participates in root cause and corrective action process for part shortages

  • Participates in inventory reviews including safety stock and excess & obsolete inventory

  • Serves on cross functional teams that require purchasing support, when needed

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business or relevant field preferred

  • At least 5 years of experience in purchasing in a manufacturing environment in lieu of

  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems with JD Edwards experience preferred
