SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITES :

As a Senior Buyer, you will be the key supply chain liaison between manufacturing operations and our supplier partners. You will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, goods, and services to meet the company's operational requirements. You will monitor delivery reports and work directly with suppliers to resolve issues. You will manage supplier relationships and ensure that suppliers are delivering on key performance indicators. In addition to external suppliers, this position interacts with internal stakeholders such as Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, and Product Management. This is a critical role that requires a strong sense of urgency, great communications skills and the desire to make a measurable and immediate impact on the business.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand & interpret demand requirements to make strategic and informed procurement decisions.

  • Analyze, understand and quantify risks to the supply chain. Develop mitigation plans and present options to senior management.

  • Manage procurement activities including issuing of purchase orders, expediting orders, and resolving discrepancies.

  • Evaluate and analyze buy signals from MRP system, experience with JDE desirable.

  • Review and update procurement policies and procedures.

  • Lead and mentor junior buyers and other procurement staff.

  • Engage and oversee projects with internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement of the procurement process.

  • Collaborate with internal departments to understand their purchasing needs, resolve supply challenges and improve material availability.

  • Analyze vendor performance based on quality, delivery, and price as well as other pertinent data to maintain a strong and sustainable supply chain. Make timely recommendations using data to support timely supply chain decisions.

  • Coordinate nonconformance issues with internal teams and suppliers in a timely manner.

  • Interface with vendors and build relationships to maintain a high level of support and through all aspects of the procurement process.

  • Perform other duties which may be required by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES

  • Working with ERP systems, experience with JDE desirable.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with coursework in purchasing and/or inventory control management, preferred.

  • 5+ years buying or purchasing experience required with supervisory experience preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Perform general office functions.

  • Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.

  • General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
