This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shipping department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of outgoing shipments by managing a team of shipping personnel, coordinating with carrier, maintaining inventory of shipping materials, and ensuring compliance with shipping procedures and regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Hiring, training, and performance evaluation of employees for the shipping personnel.
Monitor the daily shipping activities for quality and value.
Manages the workflow of the shipping department scheduling shifts and ensuring that all orders are processed in a timely manner.
Coordinate the department staffing and activities.
Ensures that proper packaging materials are utilized in accordance with the various carriers.
Adhering to shipping regulations and safety standards.
International Shipments.
Hazardous Materials.
Communicates with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and resolve delivery issues.
Track delivery and shipment accuracy.
Responsible for department expenditures.
Ensure departments compliance with policies and procedures.
Maintain material stores in organized manner with locations corresponding to ERP software locations.
All other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Works well with management, peers, and subordinates.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money with the ability to convert to foreign currency, as well as be able to use a variety of weight measurements, volumes, and distances.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems in a professional manner.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree or 5 or more years of related experience in the field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to drive a forklift and have a valid driver’s license.
Experienced in J.D. Edwards or similar ERP software.
Experience supervising, coaching, and developing staff.
Possession of Analytical and statistical skills.
Experience in Six Sigma and Lean/Kaizen.
Experience with International Shipments.
