SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITES :
The Production Planner will plan and schedule production orders for the department. The Production Planner will perform a variety of duties related to managing production work orders, supporting Customer Service with shipment commitments, pro-active communication to Customer Service on potential shipment delays and ensuring order completion for specific customer orders and make-to-stock items. This position will work closely with other functions including: Production, Customer Service and Purchasing.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Verifying shipment date of customer’s orders based on lead times and production schedule and notification of any deviation to that commitment.
Reviewing material shortages and planning / scheduling customer orders with engineering, purchasing and production teams.
Collaborates with Customer Service to prioritize production builds or shipments when necessary.
Managing MRP messages.
Reviewing auto-released work orders (i.e., Defer, Cancels…) and taking the appropriate action.
Work Order Management, including cancelations, printing, all fields (including codes for releasing late), stat codes, create/print virtual.
Supporting other Production Planners on the team, including coverage due to absences.
Running Planning/Schedule Reports.
Works with other departments including Engineering, Product Management, Accounting, Purchasing, Planning, Manufacturing and Stockroom personnel to coordinate Customer shipments.
Instrumental in increasing department/company efficiencies by participating in continuous improvement activities.
Maintains technical competence through attendance of training programs and reading current articles and company correspondence.
Maintains up-to-date documentation of processes related to job duties as applicable.
All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelors Degree in supply chain management, business management or other related field preferred
High school diploma or equivalent and minimum experience of 3 years as a planner in manufacturing required
Experience with using an ERP System in the planning function, JDE knowledge a plus
APICs Certification Preferred
