IH&S includes 6 focused business lines: Integrated Analytical Solutions, IVD/Bio, Connections, Microfluidics, Optical Systems and Optical Filters. The global team brings extensive experience with over 1100 colleagues across 8 sites located in Rohnert Park CA, Oak Harbor WA, Middleboro MA, Bristol CT, Carlsbad, CA, Rochester, NY, Zweibrücken, Germany and Kawaguchi, Japan. Markets include Proteomics, Spatial Biology, Chromatography, In Vitro Diagnostics, Point of Care, and Biotechnology and more. Products include Optical Filters, Illumination Modules, Optical Subsystems, Column Hardware, Degassers, Fluidic Connections, Manifolds, Pumps, Pump Components, Microfluidic Consumables, Subsystems and Valves.

Reporting Relationships:

In this role, you will lead the development of the strategic plan for the IDEX Health & Science business group globally. You will support the implementation of the strategy with business teams to deliver against our growth objectives. This role reports to the Group President of IDEX Health and Science (IH&S) and is part of the leadership team. The Vice President Strategy will be a senior leader in our efforts to deploy capital via organic and inorganic investments for sustainable profitable growth.

Responsibilities:

The Vice President Strategy is responsible for supporting the IDEX Health & Science growth aspirations through global expansion into new markets, technologies and capabilities.

This leader will partner with the IDEX Health and Science leadership team, extended leadership team, and the Corporate Strategy & Development Team to shape our strategic direction by identifying and analyzing new strategic growth opportunities, developing new partnerships and alliances, and supporting the execution of selected strategic initiatives.

Specifically, this leader will conduct research to assess internal and external opportunities and develop the strategy for growth. They will be responsible for the development of a well-defined Strategic Plan and M&A pipeline by identifying companies that align with strategic goals and partnering with business leaders to develop analytics and rationale to support acquisitions.

  • Markets : Build a deep understanding of new and existing market spaces and acquisition targets globally.

  • Conduct market work to ensure early conviction, market sizes, industry information, clarity on structure, scope and trends, market dynamics, customer needs, competitive landscape, technologies and services for growth.

  • Partner with colleagues across the group to guide market research, insights to support strategic planning and inorganic plans.

  • Develop market maps and communicate strategic, actionable opportunities in a simple way.

  • Guide business teams on market findings and strategic initiatives pertaining to growth investments. Scope, plan, structure work and align with leaders on timeline & implications.

  • Technologies & Capabilities : Identify emerging and innovative technology spaces of relevance to the company, target market spaces, contribute to technology road maps and scenarios for winning. For example, this leader may define mechanisms to build capabilities to ensure competitive edge through partnerships, pilots, investments, etc.

  • Strategic Thinking & Agility : collaborate across our Group leadership teams to lead and support overall strategic planning.

  • M&A Pipeline : Work with colleagues to create a well-defined M&A pipeline to support the strategy. Conduct research on target companies and their markets, channels, competitors, analyze the target company’s value proposition, competitive position, and financial performance to assess opportunities to create value post-acquisition.

  • Ability to travel approximately 25-30%.

Requirements & Experience:

  • A dynamic leader with a successful track record of strategic planning and development (organic and inorganic), business development, specific experience in Life Science markets required.

  • Knowledge of technologies and applications in the Life Sciences / Biotech market (i.e next generation sequencing, PCR, spatial profiling, DNA synthesis, chromatography, mass spec, and common molecular biology methods) preferred.

  • Track record as an agent of change, who has established customer-centric and growth-minded teams that lead through collaborative partnerships.

  • Demonstrated success seeing the big picture, making connections to develop, communicate, and lead the strategic plan to achieve competitive advantage. Ability to see possibilities, define how to get there, and translate into actions and value.

  • Critical Thinking & Decision Making: demonstrated capacity for independent thought and critical thinking. Sound judgement guides calculated risks for long term value creation. Makes decisions with conviction.

  • Excellent collaboration & communication skills, relationship building, leadership skills with an ability to influence at all levels, internally and externally, including vision, mission and rationale

  • A hands-on leader who leads by example, inspires others, at all levels to strive for success

  • Proven record of developing and implementing strategies through post-integration.

  • Strong business and financial acumen with exceptional analytical skills.

  • Engineering background and MBA preferred

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $171,400.00 - $257,000.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
