Position Summary

Reporting to the VP, Group Controllership (part of the Chief Accounting Officer’s team) the Sustainability Reporting Controller will be a key member of the finance senior leadership team. They will be responsible for the overall leadership and execution of IDEX’s global sustainability reporting function. The position will be hybrid, with remote working on Mondays and Fridays and office working Tuesday through Thursday (at IDEX’s HQ1 location in Northbrook, IL).

This individual will work closely with key finance personnel for all domestic and international businesses as well as individuals within the SEC Reporting and Chief Sustainability Officer’s departments. The Sustainability Reporting Controller will also partner with non-finance executives and other business leaders to engage and gather information on the Company’s sustainability initiatives and activities. Of critical importance will be this leader’s ability to establish credible working relationships with the company’s executive leadership team, functional leaders throughout the company, internal auditors, and independent auditors.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the global sustainability reporting and controllership function, including establishing and optimizing resources and team structure

  • Continuously monitor global sustainability reporting requirements, including understanding of timelines, and determine IDEX’s strategy for compliance

  • Understand and support IDEX’s sustainability strategy, commitments, and initiatives through close collaboration with the Chief Sustainability Officer

  • Understand IDEX’s current reporting processes and systems, including determining additional resource needs and system/process optimization opportunities. Lead global implementation of any new systems/processes

  • Participate in IDEX’s double materiality assessment and other planned Sustainability-related projects in 2024

  • Assess impact of sustainability-related exposures on IDEX’s financial statements and develop and roll out IDEX’s global sustainability reporting policies, procedures, and controls

  • Monitor ongoing compliance with IDEX’s policies and procedures by all business units

  • Shape sustainability data, goals, commitments, and KPIs in collaboration with the Chief Sustainability Officer

  • Track progress on commitments and investments

  • Determine processes to integrate and train new acquisitions

  • Own all periodic sustainability reporting requirements for the Company, including coordinating with external consultants, as necessary, to gather and report the GHG emissions data on an annual basis

  • Understand how Sustainability impacts the existing annual risk management / ERM process at IDEX

  • Continually evaluate opportunities to drive greater efficiencies and effectiveness in IDEX’s sustainability reporting processes

  • Create data-driven insights from sustainability program

  • Assess sustainability reporting risks via periodic analytics and allocate resources to address and mitigate potential risks.

  • Work closely with the Internal and External Audit functions to ensure procedures are continuously improving and meet current and future requirements

  • Grow and develop talent, including designing fulfilling roles and providing challenging opportunities that enable further career growth

  • Provide leadership and direction to continuously improve systems and procedures to ensure accounting and sustainability records provide accurate and timely information in accordance with all global regulations

  • Lead a growing team, serving as a strong, positive leader; be a coach and advisor willing to roll up their sleeves to work alongside the team and sharing process and technical expertise to continually evolve the organization’s capabilities

  • Act as point of contact for sustainability matters in the Finance organization and review technical sustainability reporting matters

  • Provide training and education as necessary to address control weakness and risk areas for subsidiary teams.

  • Identify and facilitate best practice and knowledge sharing.

  • Visit subsidiaries as necessary to build relationships and successfully execute above tasks.

  • Execute ad hoc duties, as required

Experience

  • 8+ years progressive Accounting/Sustainability reporting and controllership experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting (or similar)

  • Manufacturing experience
