IDEX Finance Manager in North Haven, Connecticut

This position will support the SFC-Koenig Americas strategy to provide better solutions, grow sales, expand margins and generate strong cash flow. The individual will maintain a financial reporting/internal control system that will provide management with the appropriate financial and operating information. He/she will develop, analyze and interpret statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance, operational excellence and other criteria that directly reflect the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the SFC business unit. Additionally, this position will lead and develop the local finance staff of 1-2 individuals. This Finance Manager actively participates with the Management Team in the planning, direction, and policy making and communicates and supports the strategic and operational plans of the business unit. Success in this position requires the ability to build a strong partnership with the General Manager and Vice President of Finance, and frequent communication with peers and IDEX group management. These relationships must be built on respect, integrity, cooperation, teamwork and professionalism.


Under minimal direction, the Finance Manager performs and presents financial reporting, general ledger activities, and

internal controls evaluation. The Finance Manager maintains good professional judgment while demonstrating a strong working

knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting requirements per IDEX policy. The individual

supervises Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable associates and is a key player in supporting cross-functional initiatives and business priorities.


Month End Closing and General Ledger Responsibilities

o Lead the preparation and coordination of all financial reporting. Ensure the financials are accurate and timely in accordance with GAAP and IDEX policy.

o Prepare and oversee journal entries – including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, intercompany transactions, prepayments, fixed assets, intangibles, and miscellaneous journal entries.

o Provide critical analysis of all balance sheet accounts and ensure they are reconciled in accordance with IDEX policy.

o Perform general ledger and related tasks, including ownership of fixed assets, Concur / Corporate credit card support, and sales and use tax returns.

Internal Controls

o Conduct on-going reviews of internal controls; ensure controls are appropriately documented and implement best practices to address risk areas.

o Lead annual Sarbanes Oxley testing and remediation for revenue, expenditures, IT controls, and financial reporting cycles.

o Complete various controllership deliverables, including but not limited to Balance Sheet Reviews, IDEX Key Control Questionnaires, and Segregation of Duties Reviews.

Accounts Receivable Management

o Assist the AR process with customer credit decisions, collection efforts, and past due resolution to minimize bad debt exposure and optimize working capital metrics on past due AR and Days Sales Outstanding.

o Ensure general and specific bad debt reserves, unclaimed property, customer master maintenance, and compliance checks are conducted according to IDEX policy.

Accounts Payable Management

o Assist the AP process with managing Vouchered Accounts Payable, Received Not Vouchered, open Purchase Orders and Debit Memos. Ensure all aged items are investigated and cleared.

o Perform detailed review of disbursements. Identify errors and corrective actions with AP associate.

o Ensure expenditures are approved per SFC’s approval matrix.

o Work with AP associate to optimize vendor payment terms and maximize Accounts Payable to improve working capital metrics on Days Payable Outstanding.

o Ensure month end accruals, vendor master maintenance, and compliance checks are conducted according to IDEX policy.

Other Responsibilities

o Perform and present various financial analyses as needed.

o Improve, automate, and streamline processes within the Finance department.

o Support efforts to improve engagement, celebrate success, and develop talent within the Finance department.

o Other duties and special projects as assigned.


o Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in progressively more responsible financial positions in a manufacturing-based, industrial environment. The ideal candidate will have prior exposure to all facets of the function, particularly operational finance, control, & financial planning and analysis

o Degree level in a relevant field (Business economics and/or Business Administration, Controlling, Qualified Accountant) Equivalent of CPA or MBA preferred (Example: ACA, CIMA, RA, Msc. Economics)

o Proven experience with US GAAP and SOX requirements

o Experience in managing a business systems function; have an in-depth working knowledge and application of personal computers, especially Microsoft Office applications and reporting systems such as Hyperion/OneStream.

o Experience in a process focused organization and experience working with J.D. Edwards or SAP is required.

o A successful candidate should be driven by the principles of continuous improvement and talent development.
