SCOPE OF THE ROLE
The Injection Molding Technician is the first line of defense to ensure the molding process is operating efficiently. This includes set-up, initiation, break down, shut down, tooling, and performance of the molding machine and tooling. With the support of others, the injection molding technician keeps the operation up and running efficiently in a high-volume, 24-hour environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & REQUIRED ABILITIES
Responsible for all aspects of the injection molding process including, but not limited to, set-up and tear down, troubleshooting minor issues, maintaining equipment performance, and workflow, all according to applicable work instructions and SOP’s
Mold tool removal from and installation to molding machine
Operate Injection Molding Machine, Auxiliary Equipment, Robots, Tumblers, and Packaging Machine as required
Measure and visibly inspect all finished parts for conformity and work order specifications
Perform mold equipment shutdown protocols including managing water lines, mold temperature controllers, pressure sensors, Hot Runner Electrical Connections, Hot Runner Controller etc.
Perform molding material management tasks such as purging material from barrel, turning off barrel heats, and PMing material feed system
Perform routine preventive maintenance on mold tooling and equipment as required
Read, follow, and contribute to improvement of work instructions and procedures in compliance with ISO13485 QMS requirements
Instruct and advise molding operators as needed
Use safe practices and comply with all company policies, procedures and health, safety and environmental regulations, as required
Follow all safety requirements pertaining to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Perform other duties as required
3 years of Injection Molding experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Mechanically inclined with respect to working with hand tools (wrenches, hose clamps, brass instruments, etc.)
Ability to read, measure, and scale in both metric and standard measures using industry standard gauges
Basic understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
Basic computer skills required, including experience using major Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc)
Excellent troubleshooting skills with Root Cause Analysis mentality
Significant attention to detail

Cleanliness approach to all work
Ability to work within a team environment
Approaches Work with Safety First Principles
May occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
Experience in ISO13485 Cleanroom operating environment preferred
Experience interacting with automation HMI preferred
Experience with Mold Disassembly and Reassembly of Molds preferred
Understanding Scientific Injection Molding (SIM) preferred
