IDEX Supplier Quality Engineer in Mansfield, Ohio

Responsible for investigating, analyzing and correcting problems in quality, production and control at a supplier location. Perform assessments, audits, implement new strategies and have solid communication and process improvement skills.


  • Use sketches, blueprints, specifications and models to standardize supplier operations for the fabrication of dies, tools and assemblies. Review tooling quotes to ensure quality tools that are made to last are being purchased.

  • Verify dimensions of finished parts to ensure they conform to specifications using dial indicators, gauge blocks, roughness meters, calipers and micrometers.

  • Assists in the design and robustness of manifolds and AODD chambers by injection molding or metal Casting, FEA and CFD based Simulation with Solid works.

  • Ensures cost savings and continuous quality improvements.

  • Maintains a log of activities concerning life cycles and tool maintenance program prior to end of life failure.

  • Develop and refine quality systems databases to improve overall system efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Reduce reliance on incoming/receiving inspection for purchased part verification by maintaining an effective NIR Process and by reducing recurring supplier issues.

  • Develop supplier process controls, supplier inspection effectiveness/communication, and sustain the supplier quality process.

  • Works with Sourcing to expedite new supplier approvals.

  • Work with Suppliers to ensure effective corrective actions are put in place and validated.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (but not required) or equivalent from four-year College or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specific skills, knowledge, and/or licenses:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook software programs, Solid Works, CFD, Ansys, FEA software, Lab View

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Fluent Blueprint Reading and Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience working with JD Edwards operating system preferred

  • Must have or complete auditor training for ISO 9001


  • Regularly required to talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and sit for extended periods of time

  • Adhere to safety regulations and Design Lab instructions

  • Occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms

  • Noise levels are usually quiet, occasionally moderate

  • General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
