Design engineers create drafts and designs of products, using their knowledge of design and manufacturing processes to develop functional products. They review specifications and liaise with clients to develop product designs, develop prototypes for testing, and create blueprints and schematics for products.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Development of new products and related components by proposing design concepts and by preparing design layouts and 3D solid models and assemblies.
Perform various Mechanical Engineering design calculations.
Assist in the planning, scheduling and reporting of project activities; conduct project specification and design review meetings; assure that all assigned projects remain on schedule.
Specify test requirements to the Engineering Lab and/or Production for design verification and performance tests.
Maintain appropriate engineering records for all project work.
Prepare detailed cost estimates and economics studies for development projects.
Provide technical assistance to all internal customers regarding new products developed and assigned product lines.
Initiate ECNs and make correction to drawings using Solidworks and/or AutoCAD.
Assist in the compilation of technical information needed for the sale and marketing of new products; this will include technical literature, performance curves, charts, engineering data and service manuals.
Assist in the ECN checking process, including the checking of all associated documentation.
Assist in the compilation and maintenance of the following engineering documentation: BOM’s, drawings, performance curves and related literature, ECN’s, product related correspondence, and service manuals.
Assist in the inspection report approval process; make a disposition on incoming inspection reports based on acceptable dimensional variation and component test results; communicate discrepancies to vendors.
Assist in the design and robustness of manifolds and AODD chambers by injection molding or metal Casting, FEA and CFD based Simulation with Solidworks.
Participates in CPI activities
Collects data for predetermined metrics
Participates in cross training
DFM analysis and design

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION LEVEL, SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience:
BSME or BSEE
Electromechanical and/or Pump design experience desirable, knowledge around Industry 4.0, and IoT
Specific skills, knowledge, and/or licenses:
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook software programs, Solid Works, CFD, Ansys, FEA software, Lab View.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Fluent Blueprint Reading and Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience working with JD Edwards operating system preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Adhere to safety regulations and Design Lab instructions
Occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms
Noise levels are usually quiet, occasionally moderate
