Key Responsibilities:
Support in month-end and year-end close processes; including, but not limited to, entries and reconciliations relating to cash accounts, sales and use tax, employee receivables, intercompany accounts, etc.
Maintain cash ledgers by recording all relevant transactions – including, but not limited to, AR and AP application, recording of interest income, recording of scrap sales and other one-off transactions.
Full management of intercompany transactions – ensuring proper accounting in accordance with Company policy.
Ongoing maintenance of sales and use tax compliance; including, but not limited to reviewing customer exemption certificates/data entry into Avalara software, liaising with the Customer Service team to obtain updated exemption certificates from customers with current certificates on file that have expired, preparation of monthly/quarterly sales tax returns for various states, etc.
Review and process employee expense reports in accordance with company policy, maintain and update expense report software for new and terminated employees and other personnel changes, provide literature and assist employees with navigating the platform, etc.
Support Credit and Collections Manager with customer portal invoicing and credit application administration.
Support Accounting Manager and Assistant Controller with required monthly/quarterly/annual deliverables to Corporate as needed.
Assist with ad-hoc third-party reporting requirements (i.e., state and local taxing authorities, Census Bureau, etc.).
Assist with audit requests (internal and external) and preparation of schedules/reporting due to Corporate for annual tax return.
Collaborate with FP&A team with various month-end and year-end reporting deliverables.
Collaborate with Accounting Manager and Assistant Controller to improve financial procedures, including SOX compliance.
Major Challenges:
Managing multiple tasks, priorities deadlines (both internal and external).
Quick and non-negotiable reporting requirements to Corporate.
Mott was recently acquired and is in transitional period; various software platforms and processes are expected to change within the next year (Banking relationship, T&E platform, consolidation system) and Corporate integration efforts will be heavy within the next year.
Expected Performance Outcomes:
Monthly, quarterly and annual closing process completed 100% on time to commit date and accurately.
Implementation of automation solutions within general accounting cycle.
Monitor policies and procedures for assigned departments, and identify and suggest improvements for accounting reports and procedures.
Technical Knowledge/Skills:
Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Advanced Microsoft Excel experience is a must.
Experience with Oracle Netsuite ERP a plus.
Required Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance.
Professional experience in accounting, such as internship or staff role
