Mission of the position: The Senior Manager, Environmental, Health and Safety will lead EHS strategy for Mott Corporation Connecticut by integrating knowledge of current industry best practices with broad understanding of industrial Sustainability and Safety. Serves an essential role in leading, partnering and supporting business driven technical and strategic initiatives in alignment with the overall Strategic Intent. This position will be based at the Farmington, CT facility.
MOTT is part of IDEX Corporation. This position is critical to the success of our overall Environmental, Health and Safety success. The successful candidate will partner with the IDEX Corporate EHS team to implement initiatives, share best practices, represent MOTT by providing feedback to corporate and to deliver EHS data to the corporate team.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement and manage EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards
Identify, evaluate, and mitigate safety, health, and environmental risks through risk assessments and hazard analyses
Stay informed about relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations and ensure the organization complies with all applicable laws
Lead and collaborate with various teams to promote a strong safety culture and ensure EHS best practices
Accountable for routine safety inspections, audits, and environmental assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance
Major Challenges:
Manufacturing processes rely on the use of highly combustible chemicals
Antiquated manufacturing equipment was designed before many modern safety features were required
Rapid business growth continuously introducing change (new processes, people, chemicals, etc.)
Prioritization projects based on business needs
Expected Performance Outcomes:
High hazard safety opportunities, mitigated in 24 hours and closed in 90 days
Implementation of Gensuite EHS software for incident tracking and Find it Fix it within 90 days
90% score for all employee Safety Training surveys
Conduct high level risk assessment to determine top 3 EHS priorities to enable growth within 6 months
Required Experience:
Associates and/or bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental/Environmental Health Engineering or equivalent
8 or more years related experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with an EH&S focus in a multi-site enterprise.
Preference given to military experience, specifically to someone responsible for safety in a nuclear environment
Technical Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated understanding of local, federal, and state regulations
Deep knowledge of combustible chemicals (liquids and solids) and the corresponding standards for safety including NFPA 30 and NFPA 654
Deep knowledge of oven and furnace safety standards, including NFPA 86
Knowledge of mechanical safety features available for manufacturing equipment
Proficient understanding of OSHA and DEEP (department of energy and environmental protection) regulations and guidelines
Strong collaboration, communication, training, and coaching skills
Industry certifications are not required, but strongly preferred
