Overall purpose of role :

The Managing Director will provide strategic, commercial, operational and technical leadership for Matcon. There will be a specific focus on operational excellence and execution to build a strong funnel for continued growth. This role will drive the achievement of continued sustainable revenue growth and continue to build great global teams, with a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, all while living our Core Values of Trust, Team and Excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Profit/Loss responsibility; monitor the implementation of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) to ensure that budget targets are met, revenue flows are maximised and that fixed costs are minimised.

  • Employing the IDEX Operating Model to develop and execute business strategies to achieve short and long-term goals.

  • Developing, implementing and monitoring business plans to improve cost efficiency.

  • Grow topline business by shifting from farmer to hunter mentality to drive a continual funnel of opportunities by getting closer to our end-user customers.

  • Leverage 80/20 as a way to prioritize growth opportunities as well as using continuous improvement to drive engagement and productivity; two essential components of the Matcon culture and legacy.

  • Focus on increasing development of new products that further the company’s ability to win and enhance the platform’s ability to respond to customer needs rapidly.

  • Effectively manage key operating metrics such as lead time, on-time delivery, cost of poor quality, inventory, employee engagement through Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews (MBR and QBR).

  • Overall responsibility and accountability for the Health and Safety of all employees, contractors and customers.

  • Creating a high performance culture with motivated and engaged employees across the UK, Europe and US through effective communication, servant leadership and sponsoring initiatives which enhance the employee experience.

  • Ensuring Company policies, procedures and legal guidelines are clearly communicated and followed.

  • Representing the Company at business events and attending conferences, presenting to executive audiences and networking with business partners.

People Management:

  • Provide leadership within the team; coach, mentor and develop direct reports and create a winning team that delivers customer obsession and continuous improvement.

  • Set departmental objectives and monitor ongoing progress and performance, tracking relevant KPIs. Ensuring roles and responsibilities are defined and accountability is embraced and accepted.

  • Ensure strong trust and communication between teams to facilitate exchange of information and service before self.

  • Responsible for developing the appropriate organisational structure, resource plans and culture to embrace diversity and build a legacy of greatness.

  • Carry out regular 121s, complete mid-year and end of year performance reviews, manage attendance, holidays, disciplinary issues and capability procedures as appropriate.

  • Ensure that employees act in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.

Skills, Abilities and Core Competencies:

  • A Proven Track record as an agent of change, who has established customer-centric and engineering-minded teams that are leading their customers, and the market, through collaborative partnerships.

  • Excellent communication, relationship building and leadership skills with ability to evaluate organizations and its talent as well as align them with customer and organizational goals

  • Change Agent: Articulates need for changes and connects required change to success in an organization and creates followership to the desired state

  • Building a Growth Mindset: Focus the team on their next frontier for growth and the disruptive thinking and innovation required to position themselves in the industry to capitalize on these opportunities

  • Agility and ability to thrive in a complex business facing many complex issues. Experience managing a global sales and ops focused P&L with potential to scale to President level.

  • People leadership - Track record of hiring and developing “A” players, developing high performing teams, and building trust, credibility & followership throughout the organization; Transparent in feedback and teaches leaders on their team to do the same.

  • Talent Evangelist: Sets a high standard for the talent on the leadership team and the feeder to the leadership team roles and ensures that talent is of the highest quality and drives changes when that is not the case.

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications :

  • Successful track record of holding a Senior Director post along with Leadership experience in an industrial manufacturing company that sells direct to customer as well as through distributors.

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Engineering, or other related field of study.

  • Extensive experience in a similar position, with increasing levels of responsibility and scope.

  • LEAN and proven leadership in continuous improvement.

  • Proven track record of driving growth while maintaining a culture of excellence and openness.

Location and any travel requirements :

Matcon Head Office, Evesham, Worcestershire, UK. Regular travel to customer sites and other IDEX Business Units as well as the MPT office will be required.
