Reports To: Business Line Director

Location: Denver, Colorado

Primary Function:

The Product Manager position will be responsible for products in Transportation Business Line, which offers a complete range of fastening solutions to different applications. The position will be an input to the business’ overall direction of its products and markets served, is responsible for product planning and execution throughout the product life cycle, including gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, sizing market potential and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing communications and support to ensure revenue, profitability and customer satisfaction targets are met. The Associate Product Manager’s plans will assist in generating increased profit, market share gain and overall customer satisfaction for the company. The Associate Product Manager will support and implement specific targeted product and market strategies, while determining the most effective and successful approach to growing the existing portfolio.

Responsibilities:

As the Product Manager, your primary focus will be on providing the business the key information and guidance as it relates to the 4-P’s (Product, Place, Price and Promotion). This person will be an influencer on the overall direction of the business and supporting the business line growth initiatives. Therefore, Band-It is seeking a champion, with a winning spirit, that can provide evidence that they grasp and can excel in the following areas:

  • Development of product lines and ability to exit rationalized models - traditional product management competency (Formulate, execute, and maintain product line strategies, product plans, and product roadmaps based on market insight)

  • Strategic direction setting - Product/Segment road mapping

  • Competitive bench-marking and market share/trend analysis pricing and promotion. Develop market insight through voice of customer research, in-depth competitive analysis, and market segmentation

  • Market awareness and penetration

  • Key customer development and channel management

  • Manage product line revenue, margin, pricing, and investment

  • Commercial process improvements acting as a persistent catalyst for change

  • Drives 80/20 complexity reduction across the product lines including product rationalization to optimize offering and complexity and manage the product life cycle

  • Drives margin expansion for the Product Line by working with Operations \ Supply Chain to drive cost reductions (PPV), Engineering to drive VA\VE projects and Commercial team on pricing

  • Full understanding and successful execution of a staged NPD Process in a manufacturing environment

  • Drives the product innovation process

  • Works closely with Engineering Director to identify root causes to product issues and resolve using a systematic action plan orientation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area (marketing, business, engineering). MBA preferred

  • 5+ years marketing experience, with at least three of those years in product marketing management with increasing responsibility in a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Experience on new product development and product management

  • Understand channel management

  • Strategic planning experience

  • Technical understanding of equipment and processes in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience working with competitive pricing, promotions and service parts. Pricing analysis/models

  • International experience will be considered a plus

  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access required

  • Integrated system product background ideal
