SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

The Product Manager, Transportation will develop plans to ensure revenue, profitability and customer satisfaction targets are met. They will champion and implement all new product and market strategies while determining the most effective and successful approach to growing the existing portfolio. The Product Manager, Transportation is responsible for product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, sizing market potential, and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing teams to develop and launch new products. The role will be a crucial input to the business’ overall direction of its products and markets served.

REPORTING TO : Senior Manager, Global Strategic Marketing

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides critical information and guidance as it relates to the 4-P’s (Price, Product, Promotion, Place).

  • Manages the development of product lines and evaluates rationalized models.

  • Leads cross functional teams, collaborates with various departments, defines product roadmaps and ensures product life cycle management of the transportation business line is maintained and effectively managed.

  • Performs competitive benchmarking and market share/trend analysis.

  • Develops market insight through the voice of customer research, in-depth competitive analysis, and market segmentation.

  • Develops customer relationships with the knowledge they will participate in market research and provide feedback on early prototypes.

  • Manages product line revenue, margin, pricing, and investment.

  • Oversees the New Product Development experience from VOC to concept and through product launch.

  • Drives 80/20 complexity reduction across the product lines including product rationalization.

  • Drives margin expansion for the Product Line by working with Operations and/or Supply Chain to drive cost reductions (PPV), Engineering to drive VA\VE projects, and finally with Commercial on pricing.

  • Works with Engineering to identify root causes to product issues and resolve problems; also works on setting up value-based pricing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES: .

  • Ability to recognize value sell opportunities and create sales tools to support the field; can also understand and demonstrate technical products.

  • Experience working with competitive pricing and promotions with manufactured products.

  • Automotive or Aviation market experience preferred.

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to identify growth opportunities.

  • Robust problem-solving methodology and demonstrated skill.

  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area

  • Three or more years of product management experience, with at least two of those years in developing a new product in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires use of hands and arms at least 90% of the time.

  • Climate-controlled office environment.

  • The employee will occasionally visit customer site for troubleshooting design.

  • Noise exposure is moderate.

Mental/Visual Demands:

  • Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are required to perform the job functions.

  • Peripheral vision is required for safety.

COMPENSATION:

120,000.00 to 150,000.00 annually

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $104,000.00 - $156,000.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
