The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager’s primary goal is to provide full time safety, health and environmental support to the Denver BAND-IT employees, facility, and property; through practices that are in compliance with regulatory requirements, IDEX requirements and IDEX values. Lead continuous improvement in EH&S and a culture in pursuit to create and maintain and injury free environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and drive the strategic EHS Plan for BAND-IT. Plan shall be in compliance with local, state and federal EHS requirements, internal IDEX EHS requirements, and industry best practices for metal forming.
Maintain BAND-IT’s ISO 14001 (Environment Management System) certification.
Create a culture where safety is truly valued and that is reinforced and empowered at every level.
Through an understanding of the company’s operations, recommend specific improvement actions, changes in policy, procedures, equipment, training, tools, location, methods, etc. to reduce known risks.
Develop, maintain and communicate EHS metrics as required within BAND-IT.
Leads the JHA process, educates engineering, maintenance and production in conducting and updating JHA’s; and similarly for ergonomic and PPE assessments and improvements.
Understands and ensures compliance with our Lock-Out / Tag-Out (LOTO) system. Role models respect for the potential hazards within the manufacturing operation. Routinely audits the process and provides LOTO training as required.
Act as a safety guide and trainer for outside contractors and/or visitors.
Knowledge, Skills and Required Abilities:
BS Degree in occupational safety and health, safety, industrial hygiene, natural science, public administration, or related field
Experience with 6S and continuous improvement processes preferred
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in EHS or related field
Certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHMM, ALCM, OSHA 501-GIS or similar preferred
Leadership experience (indirectly) leading non-EHS professionals
Understanding of all components of an EHS Program, including incident investigation, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, material handling safety, machine guarding, and permitting for air, hazmat, and waste water.
Education and Experience:
BS Degree & 5+ years’ experience in a machine intensive manufacturing environment; or
5+ years of hands on experience in EHS in a manufacturing environment.
