The Operations Manager (Molding & Machining) is responsible for leading a multi-shift, 90-person department to optimize safety, productivity, and quality performance to reach established goals. The Molding & Machining departments consist of injection molding & machining production, tooling, and injection molding machine maintenance. The Operations Manager leads a team of six Supervisors, technical staff and hourly employees across four shifts. Key measures for success are Employee Safety, Customer PPM, On-Time Delivery, Customer Lead-Time and Labor Productivity. This position is a key driver for continuous improvement, implementing Lean Manufacturing concepts throughout molding and machining operations. The role requires a high level of leadership, change management and accompanying skills.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the supervisory team and technical experts to deliver KPIs in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
Maintain a safe work environment through training, ensuring accountability to safety standards, and continuously improving working environment.
Working with Manufacturing Engineering and EH&S, develop safer ways to do things and reduce the risk of injury.
Review, develop, and maintain department procedures, work instructions, and training records to ensure compliance with ISO9001 program.
Responsible for defining required resource levels and for creating a flexible, cross-trained Molding and Machining team for efficient use of employees and equipment.
Provides leadership and direction for Molding and Machining teams comprised of 6 Production Supervisors, 80 hourly employees (across four shifts) and technical staff.
Collaborate with Scheduling & Assembly Managers to ensure that deliveries to customers and to assembly operations are met daily
Accountable for annual goal setting and performance reviews for team.
Develop plans to ensure all measures necessary are taken to deliver key results monthly and locating the necessary resources to deliver all objectives on an annual basis.
Analyze department performance, account for variances, drive for root cause and implement improved methods and procedures; create, review, and update improvement plans on a monthly basis.
Actively engage department and Sr. Leadership through the daily management process.
Plan employee training and active participation in continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety/Environmental, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Communication, Internal Controls, etc.).
Assist with NPI initiatives as they relate to molding and machining activities.
Perform business planning, forecasting, budgeting, and capital project management.
Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized work environment through implementation of 5S.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong change management skills.
Familiar with Lean Manufacturing techniques.
Experience implementing and sustaining standard work.
Experience using Microsoft Office™ (Excel, Word, Access, Power Point, Project, etc.), M2M, and JD Edwards.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is required.
7+ years of experience in manufacturing Supervision/Management (leadership in injection molding and/or machining preferred).
3 - 5 years of work experience with Lean Manufacturing Techniques.
Demonstrated success working in a team environment.
Strong Business Management skills in the areas of: Working and Leading Others, Presenting and Communicating Information, Planning, Budgeting, Delivering Results, Meeting Customer Expectations, Adapting and Responding to Change.
