Summary: Develops, implements and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacturing or fabrication of finished valves, pumps, component and sub-assemblies. Interfaces with New Product Design Engineering on the readiness for manufacturing. Determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process equipment for new or existing lines. Evaluates, selects and purchases equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective for the manufacture of Banjo products. Oversees the installation, modification, upgrade and maintenance of equipment. Maintains current records on equipment and safety issues. Studies and ensures equipment performance and reliability to support customer requirements.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement process improvements to optimize productivity, reduce costs and cycle time.

  • Improving existing operations, incorporating new methods and processes.

  • Troubleshoot shop issues involving equipment, machinery and tooling and lead solution implementation.

  • Implement root cause analysis as needed.

  • Provide technical support for machinery and equipment to operators.

  • Specify and procure new fixtures, equipment and tooling needed to meet production and quality requirements.

  • Develop and maintain shop methods standard work and procedures.

  • Coordinate safety and ergonomic issues for Value Streams.

  • Support and/or lead Value Stream / Cell Implementation for continuous improvement and positive change.

  • Manage multiple projects by providing scheduling, resource management, budget control and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance.

  • Work with Design Engineering, Procurement, and Quality Assurance departments to resolve production issues and/or implement improvements.

  • Support New Product Development (NPD) process in manufacturability.

  • Assist in departmental/plant training on lean fundamentals.

  • Manage/update facility layout drawings as needed.

  • Prepare capital appropriation requests while quantifying the project business case and benefits

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering degree and at least 5 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience with ERP System (preferred JDE)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Training in Six Sigma and/or other continuous process improvement processes

  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor software

  • Mechanical aptitude and good understanding of mechanical design principles

  • Project management training and/or experience

  • Ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams

  • Effective verbal & written communication skills
