Summary/Objective
The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for leading assembly teams to achieve key safety, productivity, quality, and cost metrics by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching and addressing performance issues; and ensuring adherence to systems, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of continuous improvement and lean tools will be a key part of successfully reducing waste and driveing team accountability.
Safety
Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all department machinery, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures. Responsible for 5S within the work areas.
Inform Management of safety issues, reports workplace injury or incident
Monitor the workplace for unsafe conditions
Investigate work place incidents
Communicate known safety hazards
Encourage and enforce safety rules and safe work habits with team members
Update EHS Action Tracker Quality
Discuss all Quality issues in DMM
Communicate quality issues to Leads
Create work instructions
Attend daily Quality meeting, disposition of parts, use defective parts to teach and train your associates Productivity
Set Daily Goals for the team to Improve Safety, Quality and Productivity
Plan and communicate to other shift supervisors any overtime needs
Manage inventory control
Reduce Cost, scrap, purge, downtime
Effectively produce written documents such as production reports or procedures, work instructions when necessary
Attend and communicate shift results in Daily Management Meeting
Trend and track manufacturing performance OEE, and improvement
Perform Root Cause Analysis of missed targets; drive action plans to address the root cause
Create and use Visual Management tools
Participate in and support Rapid Improvement Events (Kaizen) Other Responsibilities
Coach, develop and mentor team members
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by participation in all training made available by the company
Manage individual team members performance through writing and delivering meaningful midyear and year end reviews
Work with HR to develop and deliver disciplinary action when needed and appropriate
Update timekeeping system (Kronos) Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in operations management, leadership or other related field or equivalent experience
A minimum of two years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
Ability to multitask and delivery expected results
Proficient computer skills (Excel, Access, ERP systems)
Servant leadership mindset and actions
Influential verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated project management experience
Experience in lean manufacturing / continuous improvement environment
Ability to create an engaging and inclusive environment
Attention to detail
Strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
