Responsible for managing the company’s products through the Product Life Cycle (NPD, PLM, ELP). Maximize Viking’s product profitability and viability in global markets. Product Managers will possess a deep understanding product capability, market applications and competitive landscape. In addition to external knowledge, Product Managers will have an in-depth understanding of how Viking Pump functions as a business, in order to, drive for impactful change quickly while understanding cross-functional impact to the business.
Manage and direct products through the Product Life Cycle (NPD, PLM, ELP) to ensure a healthy product portfolio for Viking Pump.
Serves as the main point of contact for assigned product lines to provide technical and commercial support to cross functional internal teams.
Actively manage assigned products lines to drive profitability thru enabling top line sales while understanding product cost implications.
Collaborate with Engineering & Market Managers to ensure NPD efforts match customer VoC to drive sustainable value propositions.
Coordinates with Market Managers to provide direction and priority setting for the segment’s Technical/R&D projects that align with established strategies
Partner with Market Mgr’s to develop effective go to market strategies: – Ad’s, Videos, Literature
Participate in Engineering’s ECN change control process to drive current product improvements to address competitive threats or customer needs.
Actively manage assigned products lines to understand trends including sales, cost, margin, customers & markets; to understand product line viability.
Partner with Supply Mgt team to understand products SIOP structure to manage existing inventory.
Conducts annual strategic pricing activities to contribute to the next years AOP.
Collaborate with Sales & Supply Mgt to institute product obsolescence plans (ELP) that mitigate negative customer and/or inventory impact (EOZ).
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
BS in Engineering or Business with Marketing concentration or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in product management or sales.
Industrial pump or related equipment experience is preferred.
OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to travel up to 25%, occasionally for extended periods of time both domestically and internationally.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.
Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.
Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.
General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
Occasional work in the R&D lab and manufacturing environment.
Must have a strong ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and all levels of corporate and company personnel.
Will work closely with customers, distributors, engineering, marketing, field sales, accounting, subsidiary units, other IDEX business units, IDEX staff, and the Viking staff.
