POSITION LOCATION:

Brenham, TX (35 minutes outside of Houston, TX)

REPORTS TO:

Managing Director, Sealing Solutions

POSITION SUMMARY:

Has overall responsibility and accountability for the performance of IDEX Sealing Solutions in US and Canada including its TX manufacturing operation. Carries P&L responsibility for an approx. $30M entity which is expected to grow to $60M+ in a 3-year timescale. Drives profitable growth through the sales channels in US and Canada and works with the Operations team in Blackburn, UK to achieve maximum efficiency along with world-class levels of customer service (e.g. OTD) and quality. Reports to the PPE/IDEX Sealing Solutions (ISS) Platform Managing Director with dotted line relationships to operations, sales leadership, as well as the finance leader.

POSITION FOCUS:

  • Manages all aspects of the TX manufacturing operation; working through the leadership and team in place in TX, ensures that all HS&E, operational and financial targets are achieved

  • Is responsible and accountable for the sales offices in Houston, TX and San Jose, CA and the sales and support teams based out of those offices. Works with the teams to ensure the safe and effective operation of the offices in both locations and the laboratory in the Houston facility

  • Manages the ISS direct sales team in the US to drive profitable growth and achieve all financial targets

  • Works with HR function and the wider ISS leadership team to identify and develop high potential and promotable individuals in order to maintain high-performance teams in all locations with appropriate career development and succession plans

  • Maintains an understanding of the macroeconomic trends, competitive trends and specific dynamics in key market segments relevant to PPE and FTL in the USA, Canada and beyond

  • Working with the sales and marketing teams builds a detailed understanding of customer requirements (both OEM customers and end-user customers) for relevant applications in the key industry markets

  • Uses current and historic performance data along with market size and growth data by geography, by application and by customer type to develop, communicate and execute the ISS strategy for growing market share with maximum profitability; uses and interprets this information to provide input for use in Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Strategic Action Plan against Piracy (STRAP) plans and other business plans

  • Works with global sales leadership and finance functions to set and roll out pricing structures and price lists for products and services targeted at US and Canadian markets in order to maximize sales volumes and margins

  • Participates directly in developing strategic customer accounts in key market segments and geographies

  • Assists in sales visits, making presentations, delivering seminars and training, participate in relevant technical and engineering trade shows and conferences

KEY CRITERIA:

  • Experienced in driving a technical sales function. Able to drive profitable growth by winning sales in highly competitive markets where product and customer service differentiation drives customers’ buying decisions

  • Experienced in managing or working closely with manufacturing operations to efficiently meet and exceed customers’ needs in a fast-moving high product variety environment. Familiar with lean manufacturing principles, tools and the use of KPIs to drive performance improvement

  • Ability to work across several functions and teams in the business; can motivate and mobilize individuals and teams behind strategies to maximize commercial and operational success

  • Fluent in the use of spreadsheets, analytical tools, statistical methods of forecasting and presentation of metrics in tabular or graphical formats

  • Fluent in the use of PowerPoint to develop and present impactful presentations on complex technical subjects to global audiences

  • Confident and credible when working with internal and external groups at all levels. Able to use their knowledge and credibility to influence individuals and teams to achieve the desired outcomes

  • Willing and able to work across and manage sites in various locations in the US including TX and CA; also willing to travel (around 10%) including internationally, to attend meetings, work with PPE, platform and IDEX teams globally, visit customers, etc.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • MS, BS, or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline; MBA would be highly desirable

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in industrial markets serving customers’ needs in a technical product field including experience and a proven track record in at least 2 aspects of business management such as sales, marketing, product management, operations, continuous improvement and/or business development in a relevant industry

  • General management experience would be highly desirable

  • Fluent in reading and interpreting financials including P&L and balance sheet information

  • Understanding of how commercial and operational decisions impact financial performance

  • Knowledge of elastomer sealing solutions, elastomer components or other highly engineered, high variety of technical products is highly desirable

  • Willing to relocate to Greater Houston/Brenham, TX Region
