POSITION SUMMARY

Advanced Thin Films is developing capabilities to accelerate our capability to make optics for high energy lasers. This position will be responsible for the design and construction of optical metrology systems to characterize optics. In addition, this position will be responsible for the design and installation of mechanical components used in the fabrication and coating equipment to make optics at Advanced Thin Films.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Determine the requirements for optical metrology equipment .

  • Purchase, install, and troubleshoot commercial optical metrology equipment.

  • Design, build, and troubleshoot custom optical metrology equipment.

  • Design, install, and troubleshoot moving mechanical assemblies for holding optics in optical coating and fabrication equipment.

  • Independently perform high complexity mechanical designs using Solidworks.

  • Work with a team of engineers and scientists to meet project deadlines.

  • Assisting with the writing of the following types of documents as needed: progress reports, patents, manuals, white papers, and proposals.

  • Customer, part sourcing, B.O.M. and vendor management.

  • Demonstrate exceptional initiative in seeking out problems and solutions of all sizes

  • Read and understand a variety of job-related instructions and documents, including engineering drawings

  • Collect, compile and understand basic mathematical calculations and statistical data

  • Set personal deadlines and project schedules

  • Develop, organize, prioritize, and manage projects and time

  • Document meticulously

  • Demonstrate and practice a detail-oriented approach to work

  • Identify, research and resolve issues

  • Work well with time and production limitations

  • Acquire substantial knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures and products

  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience with optical test equipment

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of a variety of database or process software

  • Demonstrate mechanical skill

  • Train employees

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. or higher in Mechanical or Optical Engineering or a related field or the equivalence in work experience

  • Experience with Solidworks

  • US citizenship required

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $83,500.00 - $125,300.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
