Position Summary:

As the Director of Engineering at Advanced Thin Films you will be tasked with building a world-class engineering team to help accelerate our growth aligned with our strategic customers and markets. In this role you will be responsible for driving a culture of disciplined innovation and development that results in advancements of technology, capability, and overall company growth.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver business transformation through disruptive technology innovation

  • Review customer and market feedback to maximize impact of development and innovation efforts

  • Define and implement process for innovation and development

  • Direct and coordinate new technology and development engineering activities and personnel

  • Assists the business development, sales, and marketing organizations to maximize the competitiveness and responsiveness of our products and processes

  • Manage on-time and within budget completion of projects and programs

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of many technical areas through experience and academic achievement

  • Identify and hire talent needed to enable and sustain growth

  • Enable manufacturable results from development and innovation efforts

  • Lead and promote interaction with other departments including value streams, finance, quality, compliance, and maintenance

  • Leverage risks and opportunities- pursue and adopt new technologies and drive implementation across organizational lines

  • Participate in proposal development and champion NRE estimates and technical statements of work

  • Promote teamwork and collaboration within department and across organization

  • Serve as technical spokesperson for Advanced Thin Films

  • Communicate with impact - influence and negotiate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders to achieve win-win solutions that advance organizational goals

  • Serve as a key interface with customers, and takes their needs and requirements as inputs to create high-value solutions

  • Lead team to develop technology and innovation roadmaps that are aligned with our customer's existing and emerging needs

  • Support company values including ethical conduct and high integrity in all actions

  • Work cooperatively with other IDEX facilities to support multi-site customer opportunities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field

  • 5+ years of engineering leadership experience

  • 8+ years of experience in high technology manufacturing or research labs

  • Experience building and developing a high performing, multi-disciplinary team

  • Experience with any of the following design interfaces: SolidWorks, Zemax OpticStudio®, CODE V, and any other modeling or optical design software

Preferred Credentials:

  • MS or Ph.D. in an Engineering discipline (e.g., Optical, Mechanical, Systems)

  • Demonstrated experience in optical thin films, including design and deposition methods

  • Ability to communicate highly technical information to others

  • Technical experience working with lasers, optics, electronics, metrology equipment

  • Able to communicate in concise and accurate English (verbal and written reports/presentations)

  • Aptitude to work well across all functions and provide technical leadership as internal project champion

  • Capability to travel to support customer visits

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic technical engineering environment

  • Experience and knowledge of manufacturing test engineering, operations including procurement, planning and quality systems

  • Proficiency to manage others in technical engineering roles and managing project budgets including staffing resources

  • Software/design/modeling experience

  • Strong project planning experience with an ability to coordinate across different sites involving multiple teams

Compensation Information:

Salary Range: $130k+ annually

Bonus: This position is eligible for company discretionary bonus
